How do we help students learn contemporary contexts?

Modern contexts, such as environmental literacy, represent common strands of learning that should run through education. In “Interdisciplinary Themes,” CCR lays out how these interdisciplinary themes make learning relevant.
Interdisciplinary Themes: Embedding Contemporary Contexts within Content
Within Knowledge there is another important aspect to the twenty-first century curriculum—themes, such as environmental literacy, computational thinking, and the like. Themes represent common strands of learning that run through many of the disciplines—traditional and modern—and which matter to many jurisdictions and cultures. Because these themes are persistent in our lives, using them to provide thematically relevant contexts will help students develop broader, deeper understandings.

Why Should Students Learn Anything?

The acceleration of AI brings this question to the forefront. Drivers of intrinsic motivation are CCR's answer to this question. We analyze each of these in, “Drivers: Why Should Students Learn, Given AI?”
Drivers: Why Should Students Learn, Given AI? Cross-Dimensional Drivers of Motivation: Identity, Agency, and Purpose
The acceleration of artificial intelligence, and the ways in which it disrupts life and work, now brings the question of “why should students learn?” to the forefront. Drivers of motivation (identity, agency, and purpose), are CCR’s answer to this question.

DeepSeekR1 created "shock & awe," but just ramping up algebraic complexity does NOT indicate reasoning, only more training. To understand mathematical reasoning in LLMs, one needs different benchmarks, as described in "Benchmark design criteria for mathematical reasoning in LLMs"
Benchmark design criteria for mathematical reasoning in LLMs
This paper outlines key aspects in developing robust benchmarks for evaluating large language models (LLMs) in mathematical reasoning, highlights limitations of existing assessments, and proposes criteria for comprehensive evaluations.

Is AGI definable? AGI, is defined by OpenAi as "highly autonomous systems that outperform humans at most economically valuable work."

A just-released opinion paper by CCR, "The Frustrating Quest to Define AGI" contemplates this timely and perplexing question. #ai #artificialintelligence #OpenAI
