I appreciate a huge variety of music starting with classic rock and 80s/ 90s college rock.
Just listened to Strawberry Fields forever 3 times. Cool tune inspired by a Salvation Army children’s home near Lennon growing up. I like the nostalgic and dream like nature of the tune. One cool thing was they used a variety of instruments including an An Indian swarmandal stringed instrument.

Today in music history, we celebrate the birth of Jim Morrison (1943), of The Doors, while mourning the losses of John Lennon (1980), the legendary Beatle whose vision shaped a generation, and Otis Redding (1967), the soulful voice behind “Dock of the Bay” . #MusicHistory

In honor of Jim Morrison’s birthday today (December 8, 1943 in Melbourne, Florida), I am listening to “When the Music’s Over” from the Strange Days album. More than a song; it’s a spiritual and existential odyssey. Favorite line, “I want to hear the scream of the butterfly”.

Listened to Morrison Hotel by The Doors on my run—There is raw blues rock like Roadhouse Blues, but what makes this album special are the mysterious tunes like Indian Summer, Blue Sunday and Queen of the Highway. I listened to this one a ton in the college days.

Starting my morning with the Grateful Dead’s debut album (1967). It’s raw and energetic—bluesy, and psychedelic at times. My favorite tracks are Viola Lee Blues and Good Morning Little School Girl. I like Pigpen’s vocals and harmonica on Good Morning Little Schoolgirl.
