The Father’s Weight

I walk a road I never knew,
No father to guide, no map to view.
Now I build from broken stone,
A house for them I’ve never known….

-Ran Brown

Just a piece of a poem I’m writing.

By the way, I didn’t see they’ll all be great lol. Or good. Or okay. Some will be shitty.

This was nice, reminiscing on the past. Living in NYC, the year was 1996 and I was in either my first blizzard or the first one I can remember. Without further ado…

I just had a random flashback of being so excited as a kid when this random guy said “Hey Kid, you ever start a car?…Today’s your lucky day” he threw me his key and stepped back. I remember thinking he surely can’t kidnap me being that far away.

Wtf was going on in Astoria, Queens.

There’s something about Autumn.

It’s like this crisp comfortable cold weather that feels nostalgic.

Like a parent putting a coat over your shoulders and kissing near the temple.

That loving preparation of the cold to come.

Patience turns to regret when it lingers too long, timing isn’t just waiting; it’s knowing when to act.
