I’ve got a piece up at Crikey today on the NDIS. There’s been a concerted campaign to attack the NDIS in recent months, and it’s been massively dishonest www.crikey.com.au/2025/01/24/b...
No, the NDIS is not ‘strangling’ the economy
Accusations against the NDIS are fuelled by a worldview that sees supporting the most vulnerable in our community as an unaffordable cost, while tactically ignoring the benefits.

Graduation 2024 - another year and I’m struck anew by the strength in the diversity of our graduates.
So delighted to celebrate the graduating students from undergraduate, masters and two PhDs in our disability studies programs today. Congratulations everyone!

Self-promoting, I know, but I was chuffed that our paper on regulating vulnerability was practically useful today… www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....

Such a sad pleasure to talk with other people about where we go after Royal Commissions, and how the priorities of disabled people might be upheld in policies and practice.

Tagging along today to a panel on reproductive rights and justice for disabled women & girls (& menstruating ppl) at the Univ Otago Menstrual Health Research Network.
Really looking forward to talking together with health researchers about the usefulness of a disability lens.

You’re too kind entirely! We had a lot of fun, and remembered your Australian visit (and craftivism) along the way. Was fabulous to spend some time with @profkrc.bsky.social talking care and all the things that get in the way of it…

Thank you George - and hello! This is so far (2 days in) a lovely way to reconnect with people

On my way to the Donald Beasley Institute in Dunedin for a 2 week visit - so excited for this time together. Do you know their fantastic work on human rights and disability? www.donaldbeasley.org.nz
