Quite excited to see one the #medievalsky articles we published in the Transactions @royalhistsoc.org make it onto BBC Sounds! 🗃️

An excellent Halloween themed More or Less episode counting the stakes used by Vlad the Impaler.

Have a listen!

An English (St George?) flag waving Virgin... For all the Reformers on here. 😝

Chiesa della Trinità, Bologna.

An interesting coda from the Santa Maria dei Servi... A painting of St Anne teaching the Virgin to read.

Mary (as I keep on saying) is always reading.

(But I don't think I've ever seen her this young?? And the angel too for that matter.)

This is a very Goth virgin. Surprised she doesn't have fangs! 🤪

"You know I climbed up this hill and then God gave me these tablets telling you all to listen to me. And now I'm here!"

(Fragment of a fresco from the church of Mezzarata)

Here is the full image from ca 1435.

This seems more appropriate for the spooky season... Is it a female devil giving birth? Or any devil just shitting out humans?

This is the sign. I don't recognize the scene either!

Ah. Maybe they are trying to push him up rather than him going down. That would be even funnier!

Don't get me wrong, I love me some Giotto. But this dragon just looks like it is sucking through a straw rather than being slain... 😝

Escaping while keeping your halo intact is no mean feat. 🤪

(If any #medievalsky scholar can tell me what St Anthony got up to here, I'd love to hear it! 😅)

Saint George is really going for it.

Just boosting @webstermedieval.bsky.social 's #medievalsky #earlymodern post on 🎃👻🕸️ Halloween.

If you're interested in witchy #hextag stuff, then our article and the blog posts by our @witchmapproject.bsky.social interns are an excellent starting point. 😊

That is not to say that I didn't just have a very nice meal out in this town. 😅

No, I have a meeting at the Sacred Convent tomorrow morning to see a room not usually on display.

Assisi is even better at night when all the tourists have left.

Always good to be in Assisi, especially when the sun comes out.

All credit to @onslies.bsky.social for coming up with that on the other place!

"My name is Stefano ... I am about 14 years old. My job is to go to school and do tasks around the house."

Possibly my youngest #monkabulous canonisation trial witness so far, testifying to a miracle basically involving a beating on the school yard.

Yup! And I love Naples. If you have time, escape to one of the islands!

Yeah. Duh.

I was referring to a lanai, a *Hawaiian* porch, as anyone with basic reading skills and common sense should have been able to deduce: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lanai_(...

So please go away.

Enjoy! You don't fancy a day trip to Rome do you? 😜

We need a British version!

Then I can forget about Hawaiian geese and porches too. 😅

I listened to the BBC Walescast podcast (which I really like) and they were commenting account how all the other journalist were queuing to talk to Reform loser after the count, rather than the winner...

I thought faff should be a word but it's not!

I hardly use it but I feel that is sort of the point? I feel there are more people on there who loathe social media and just post the one big personal/career news item a year on there.

Only a thought! I certainly won't be writing in defense of LinkedIn! 😅
