"Continuing to build more roads to alleviate congestion, especially in a geographically constrained city such as Dublin, is precisely the kind of failed thinking that has resulted in our capital becoming the 10th most congested city in the world."

Prof Brian Caulfield: Can anything be done to end M50 gridlock?
Motorway is daily inescapable reminder of Dublin’s status as world’s 10th most-congested city
www.irishtimes.com

It would be in direct contradiction to our climate laws & obligations, prolong car dependency, and be contrary to the 2022-2042 GDA Transport Strategy, not to mention the biodiversity impacts.

Unfortunately, after decades of underinvestment in the city, another road is not going to fix our problems

Building the eastern bypass is far from a short or even a medium-term solution—it would take 15-20 years in planning and construction and cost billions!

A major extension to the Dart network that's to serve new neighbourhoods in west Dublin has been delayed for at least four years.

The move has been described as "contrary to best international practice" by one transport expert.

Delighted to see the Elgar Encyclopedia of Transport and Society published today.

I authored Chapter 56 which defines decarbonisation of transport.

It is great to be listed with my international peers in this encyclopedia.

The transport investment plan is out, it looks to fund all the projects we have come to know over the years.. No new investment in Luas, bar the 4km Luas Finglas line.

If you include the €2bn for Metrolink the PT & Active travel vs Roads ratio is 1.4:1

My 4th year students present projects on decarbonisation of transport at 10am. They have lived experience in how far we have to come: I got a 7:20am email from a student whose 6:53am bus didn't arrive, meaning they won't make it for 10am. Happy World Sustainable Transport Day.
