My Italian-American grandmother made “pizza fritti (pizza-freet)” and would not write down the recipe because she didn’t want us to get burned. 🙄 🥹 Gonna put aside some dough next time I make sourdough and fry it up! Of course Italians also have zeppole and other fried dough delights. Yum.

I normally celebrate the completion of a story with a root beer ice cream float. A treat connected to a fond childhood memory. However it's 36° outside, I'm dressed in three layers of fleece dragging an electric blanket with a ridiculously long extension cord, so instead, I bought myself a zeppole.

Love this. Especially, the nonna. The problem with the old nonnas like mine is that they kept their recipes in their heads.The competitions were intrafamial—like who made the best sauce, meatballs, biscotti, zeppole, or ricotta cheesecake. It could get vicious.

Okay I have over 30 characters uploaded now to Toyhouse, not a lot of info on most but I am making some great progress! Just added Zeppole, and I still have some to post but I should work on filling out their profiles more first before throwing more OCs on there.

The lift of the Giglio in Williamsburg in the summer is so cool! Worth going at least once. Usually they have someone selling zeppole (deep fried dough it's good)
It's fun and awe inspiring to see a bunch of people lift and dance a 4 ton statue with a brass band on it even if you aren't Catholic
