#thoughts&prayers
Just want to share with my American friends how the Australians respond to a shooting tragedy. Action, rather than thoughts and prayers.

Thoughts and prayers to all you anti-gay conservative Christian men, like Mike Johnson and Lindsey Graham.

Thoughts and prayers are worthless but stats show the assault weapons ban was working.

A lifetime of "thoughts & prayers" have done JACK-SQUAT to reduce or eliminate gun violence. We need to do MORE.

It is the GUNS.

We’ve given thoughts and prayers enough chances.Let’s give gun control a shot.

B-but what about thoughts & prayers?

OK then, what was the action? What has the Trump admin done? What proposals have they made? They have only ever offered “thoughts and prayers” on social media. Nothing else.

James Talarico: Frankly I am tired of the ‘thoughts and prayers’ rhetoric from our leaders.

There is something profoundly cynical about asking God to solve a problem that we're not willing to solve ourselves.

The time for thoughts and prayers is over. It's time for us to act.

This is how a healthy society reacts to tragedy. Not with "thoughts and prayers," but with action.

Instead of responding only with thoughts and prayers, Australia will respond with laws and regulations. Because, unlike the United States, it values the lives of its citizens over any sick adulation of firearms.

The 1996 Port Arthur massacre led to immediate, sweeping, bipartisan gun law reforms.

Sane countries know that thoughts and prayers are not nearly enough.

Saw someone get mad at Martin St. Louis for saying "thoughts and prayers" to the people impacted by the shooting at Brown including his son.

You do realize he is a Canadian hockey coach, not a politician right?

THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS FUCK OFF
Trump: "I've been fully briefed on the Brown University situation. What a terrible thing it is. All we can do right now is pray for the victims." (Trump falsely posted that the shooter is in custody.)

Starting a thread of the times thoughts and prayers have prevented a mass shooting. 1/

I’ve seen two kids post that the Brown University shooting is the second school shooting they’ve survived.

This should enrage and radicalize everyone.

Kids shouldn’t have to survive one shooting, let alone two.

No more thoughts and prayers.

It’s time to address the guns.

In Australia, the response to a deadly and awful shooting is to promise to tighten gun laws.
In America the response is to send thoughts and prayers (if you're lucky).
But you won't get those from the president these days. More likely to get a tirade of hatred and blame.
