#system-neutral
The ability to be "objective" or "neutral" about secret police disappearing kids would, in any rational system, be disqualifying. That the opposite is true is an indictment of journalism, and one reason that the mainstream media is distrusted.
Got turned down on a piece about ICE in Chicago for an international news org because they believed I couldn’t be objective about my neighbors getting kidnapped. And well, guilty as charged I guess.

Here's what happens:
Olivia learns her trauma was ORCHESTRATED by the institutions she served.
The system was never neutral.
It was designed to protect power, not people.

Is it system neutral? That would make me so happy.

Whoa this looks amazing!

Is it system neutral?

"Benefits" are just a distortion. It would be better if everyone was just paid in money with the tax system being totally neutral

Yeah. One of the complaints that they throw out is how many Republican nominated and how many Democratic nominated; however, when the legal system gets categorized by political party rather than judicial law, it gets tainted. Ironically, the lower courts act more neutral good 70% of the time 1

my issue with the alignment system is that while it might be decent as a starting point it can be pretty subjective, plus a lot of people have seemingly inconsistent beliefs that make them hard to categorize (unless you just declare them neutral in some way)

It's also not how the entire justice system works - it's built on the foundation that the victim's relatives are not an unbiased or neutral advocate we must always listen to.

if you see this, post your fursonas full name and explain it!

dani "ivy" lastname!

once dani learns they're plural, they begin realizing that, like ivy, they are an ever growing and expanding mind. dani chose dani to be gender neutral originally, but the system of mostly girls choose a fem name
My name is Ariel Friar-Weeks. Friar is my dad's last name and Weeks is my mom's. But it sounds so close to fire, I use it for myself. >:3
If you see this, post your fursona's full name and explain it!

Lily "Socks" Williams!

Socks is a boy with a girl's name, his birth parent had some flower child ideas about him, and after he got adopted, a verbal stim between him and his mama gave rise to his permanent nickname

That's sure what it sounds like though! I agree, the OSR scene uses "system neutral" to mean "vaguely B/X stats". My point is that's kinda silly, because it's not what "neutral" means.
November 10, 2025 at 12:38 AM
You’re confused. “system neutral” is not synonymous with “compatible with every system.”
November 10, 2025 at 12:22 AM
I realize I'm being extremely picky over something that definitely doesn't actually matter, buuuuut that's not system neutral. It's "system vaguely inspired by B/X". Which is great, but just say that.

Vareth the Priest, part of a shadowdark oneshot I've joined, I don't have too much about her, I've been watching campaigns using this system. Shes neutral & her deity is one of knowledge. She welds a Mace & shield. I picked priest b/c I wanted a cleric.

For the Advent(ure) Challenge, I'll write one dungeon each day, on theme (listed in the pic), in a single 6x9 spread.

I struggle a lot with art, so maps are going to be minimalist; balancing encounters is time-consuming, so everything is system-neutral.

Can I do it? Who knows! I have a toddler!
November 9, 2025 at 9:56 PM
Either pick a system or don't at all. It's fine if the module is stated for B/X or whatever, just go all in and do that. Or don't stat it at all. "Brutish bandit with scrappy leather armor and a rusty sword." That's what an actual system neutral module looks like.
November 9, 2025 at 8:31 PM
If a "system neutral" module tells me a monster had "HP: 12, HD: 2, ATK: Sword, d6 DMG" it is NOT A SYSTEM NEUTRAL MODULE.

Vaguely B/X inspired is not system neutral and I'm tired of people saying it is.
