As it’s #WoodpeckerWednesday I have Decided to Share my Second picture of a Green Woodpecker that I saw while on Vacation Captured through a window.Captured
on a Canon EOS R50

My Second picture of the Day is of a Green Woodpecker that I saw while on Vacation Captured through a window so it’s not too clear unfortunately.
Captured on a Canon EOS R50
The picture shows a woodpecker perched on the edge of a wooden surface, likely a fence or decking. The bird has distinctive features: - A bright red crown on the top of its head. - A black mask around the eyes with a white stripe above and below. - Olive-green upperparts and wings. - A pale greenish-yellow belly. - A yellowish patch visible on the rump. - Greyish underparts with some faint barring. - A long, pointed beak typical of woodpeckers. The background is a blurred greenish-yellow, suggesting grass or foliage, and there are a few thin, leafless twigs visible behind the bird. The woodpecker appears alert, looking slightly upward and to the left. This is a European Green Woodpecker (*Picus viridis*), a species commonly found in the UK and known for its preference for feeding on ants on the ground rather than drumming on trees as frequently as other woodpeckers.

El pito real ibérico (Picus sharpei) es muy asustadizo en el bosque y siempre se muestra muy desconfiado. El ejemplar está mirándome y aunque no me puede ver porque estoy oculto tras el cristal espía , el pájaro sospecha que hay algo que no es natural.

(This is one of my favourite stories, and the letters are some of my favourite chapters.)
Sister Su just calls them out, and if they won’t duel, she follows them around and loudly reads essays, with footnotes, references, appendices and codicils, about their moral, physical, spiritual and hygienic failures. She got a little printing machine, hand cranked. She’s gotten very fast at setting the type, and has started commissioning new blocks of characters in different handwriting for extra emphasis. Sis’ Su has all her little printing blocks organized, categorized and regimented better than a unit of Imperial Guardsmen. She prints fliers, and distributes them widely, even commissioning missions to other Immortal Grottos (which is what they call their subsidiary temples.) The fliers come with attached bibliographies and a table of citations, as well as lists of women whom the young masters have failed to satisfy. She usually includes the ‘gentlemen’s’ mothers, but notes that the disappointment is merely inferred based on the totality of evidence. I insist that you picture Sis’ Su, sitting at her worktable, carefully and precisely setting the characters into wooden forms. It’s all backward, of course, so it prints properly on the page. With her slim, white fingers, stained with blue-black ink, she arranges the following sentence- “Allegations that he has personally received the unspeakable attentions of a Bull Hippopotamus, repeatedly and enthusiastically, are not without support despite his embarrassing physique and general lack of vigour. See Appendix C for an explanation of what a Hippopotamus is.”

Támhle si sedí na prdeli, u nohou má postřelenýho parťáka, kterýmu lezou z břicha střeva, a on jen řve jak na lesy, že by si dal medík.

I picchi verdi sono molto difficili da individuare, io li sento sempre quando esco a passeggio, ma ne ho visti solo due vivi (di sfuggita, uno in volo e uno arrampicato su un tronco, appena mi ha visto si è spostato sull'altro lato) e uno morto.
Un picchio verde (Picus Virdis) morto nel sottobosco, loho trovato a dicembre del '22, mentre cercavo funghi.

Idzie zima, ptaki schudną. Te ozdoby naszych drzew zostaną z nami i być może zajrzą do karmników.
Moi sąsiedzi: dzięcioł zielony (Picus viridis) najbardziej lubi mrówki, a kowalik, ten mały chuligan (Sitta europaea) żywi się robakami i owadami, o które też zimą trudno.

Udělali jsme na domě vyčištění fasády a její celkovou obnovu. Dnes v noci na ni nějaký píčus nastříkal klikyhák. Třeba tohle je jeden z těch momentů, kdy mi dost vadí, že pranýř už není přítomen v českém trestním právu…
