First, a bit of background--Metro is proposing a dedicated bus lane on Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring as part of a program to speed up buses by partnering with local agencies (in this case MDSHA and MCDOT). They are also planning a bus lane along Silver Hill Road in PG County.

A hit & run driver injured 2 pedestrians (46/M, 51/F) who were crossing Georgia Ave/97 at the intersection with Wendy Ln, Aspen Hill, on Fri 12/22/23 7:17 pm.
Police (MCP33530024) found the pedestrians at fault: failure to yield ROW.
In April 2022, MDSHA refused to provide a safe crossing here.

I have a neighbor who won’t walk across Rockville Pike, even at a controlled intersection, but to me Veirs Mill is worse. We can do so much better. MDOT and MDSHA really need to step up efforts.

Annapolis Road/MD 450 sidewalk ends between Princess Garden Parkway and the Beltway ramp, in New Carrollton, meaning no safe pedestrian path, and visibility for vehicles on the ramp on the other side is blocked by overgrown foliage.

True. MDSHA is horrible. And props to Montgomery County for many great traffic calming projects (examples attached). But Old Georgetown at Executive Blvd is all on the County (attached).
