Bunker Hill historian (and Angels Flight operator) Nathan Marsak debunks the myth that Big Oil and GM killed L.A.'s streetcar. Maybe the real conspiracy is all the misinformation spewed by people who should have known better. bunkerhilllosangeles.com/2025/11/02/n...

Another work worth looking at, although once again it is US-based, is Kathryn Olmsted’s book “Real Enemies.” She’s an historian and her book looks at the conspiracy theories either believed or promoted by the US government over the course of the 20th Century

I'm genuinely having trouble coming up with a conspiracy theory that wasn't originally antisemitic. Like 99% of them come from the late 1800s and originated in the antisemitic press as far as I know as an armchair historian.

A historian colleague who was working with him in the early '90s expressed surprise that Clark Clifford told him unequivocally that LBJ had definitive proof Nixon was engaged in a traitorous conspiracy. I thought it was already widely acknowledged that Johnson had the goods.

"It is weird and cruel to respond to a forest fire or flooding or a hurricane with vitriol and wild conspiracy theories," says historian Nicole Hemmer, adding that "there is real value in calling it out."

Found on Quora..

I love this conspiracy rant. The only part I take issues with is saying the USA was foolish or failed in its foreign policy objectives.

Because no, our government is quite successful at having tyrannical economic control, and political control of the globe’s resources.

Comparatively, no, there is not a lot of info out there. Just as a plain fact. It disappeared from the news.

I don't have a stake in conjuring some conspiracy about it, don't gaf either way. I'm an historian & deal in actual archives, which are scant compared to other presidential assassinations.

In Letters from an American, historian Heather Cox Richardson sees a pattern in Trump’s meritless conspiracy peddling to successfully get to the White House.

Now, faced with the Epstein scandal, the familiar pattern just can’t work. Each attempted distraction becomes worse than inept.

My shuttle driver is telling me all about the “first conspiracy” which was the plot to kill George Washington. And he learned about it by reading a book by that really well known historian on History Channel. Brad Meltzer. 😑😑😑 I need alcohol. Lots and lots.

Wrong. My great great-something aunt was one of Smith's wives. Any Mormon Historian will agree that Smith started LDS polygamy. But these people keep arguing that it is all a conspiracy to rewrite history. These are the "Truthers" of Mormonism.

This is a 'historian' trying to cover his ass just in case he's invited onto legacy media in the future & asked to explain his belief in 'conspiracy theories'.

It's because of cowards like this who pretend to run with the hares while also hoping to hunt with the hounds that this mess exists.
