Playing around with my new foldscopes because I’m teaching a microscopy camp next week and these little scopes are wild exciting for kids. My 10 year old is oooohing and aaaahing.

This is a scarlet rose mallow hibiscus petal. Try 1 at sample prep, viewed through my phone held up to a light.

Who doesn’t love foldscopes? What other great yields from science funding?
NSF Career Award supported invention of Foldscope - now reached 3 million kids globally with ~1 million kids in US - bringing joy of science to grassroots & communities with very little support. It’s brought communities working together on global problems.
