The single stack (Fig 105) was always the most obvious solution for drainage, but the dual concern over siphonage and cleaning miasma from drainage pipes (to prevent contamination of the water in the traps) resulted in a much more complex configuration with vent piping installed at traps (Fig 107).

Two views of the rich collections of nebulas and star clusters in the Cygnus and Cepheus areas of the northern Milky Way, in versions with and without labels. Both taken at the end of September at the Southern Alberta Star Party. Tech details in the Alt Text.

This is a "deep" exposure of the constellations of Cassiopeia the Queen and Cepheus the King, to pick up the many reddish emission nebulas in the area, some relatively bright, but others very faint and extensive throughout this region of the northern Milky Way. Also in the frame are many open star clusters. The distinctive 5 stars of the W of Cassiopeia are at left.

Technical:
This is a blend of filtered and unfiltered exposures:
- A stack of 72 x 1-minute exposures through an Astronomik dual narrowband UHC clip-in filter, at ISO 1600.
- A stack of 21 x 1-minute exposures through a mild light pollution filter, a 95mm NISI Night, at ISO 800.
- A single exposure through a 95mm Tiffen Black Mist filter contributed some of the star glows on the bright stars.
- All at f/2 with the Canon RF28-70mm lens at 35mm, on the red-sensitive Canon Ra, and on the MSM Nomad tracker.

At centre is the bright Cygnus Starcloud, rich in stars and also red nebulas, and bisected by the Dark Rift in the Milky Way from interstellar dust.

Technical:
This is a blend of filtered and unfiltered exposures:
- A stack of 25 x 1.5-minute exposures through an Astronomik dual narrowband UHC clip-in filter, at ISO 1600.
- A stack of 29 x 1.5-minute exposures through a mild light pollution filter, a 95mm NISI Night, at ISO 800.
- A stack of 8 exposures through a 95mm Tiffen Black Mist filter contributed the star glows on the bright stars.
- All at f/2 with the Canon RF28-70mm lens at 35mm, on the red-sensitive Canon Ra, and on the MSM Nomad tracker.

You need to do it now, while there is money in the bank. Investors in companies with a short runway are more powerful and are more likely to try to liquidate their patent portfolio, for example with an acquisition.

@evan @mmasnick Evan, as you and I have discussed directly in the past, all of the atproto specifications and core implementations are under free and open licenses. Specifically, MIT and Apache 2.0 dual-licensing, with Apache 2.0 providing patent protection. Furthermore, Patents have public record, and anybody can confirm we have not filed for any.

Neither you nor I are lawyers, but I don't think there are any grounds to spread fear/uncertainty/doubt about atproto and patents.

You need to make a written pledge as an organization that any patents you make on the work you do are freely licensed. Right now, you're putting everyone in the space at risk. We don't know if you're going to overreach and patent distributed social networking, or user profiles, or whatever.

As I mentioned, the patent status of the AT Protocol is up in the air; because they have a proprietary protocol that has not been through an open standards process, I don't know what the patent status is on the techniques. Consequently, I've tried to avoid Bluesky; I don't have an account, I haven't reviewed the protocol documents, and I don't try to emulate the features. I can't afford to introduce patented techniques into AP.

Header - What is a Battle Box?

A Battle Box is a Magic format that plays like "ready to go Magic in a box." It's similar to a Cube but doesn't require drafting. It's ready for any number of players to battle as soon as they sit down at the table.

Instead of each player piloting an individual deck of cards, all players draw from one big shared stack of preselected cards. The other defining characteristic is lands start the game "in exile" (not in the deck itself) and can be freely played, one per turn, as though they were in a player's hand.
