3/ Why it matters:
The datafication is only set to get worse. As governments share more and more personal data across borders and begin using AI for decision-making, we need to build our collective understanding of data protection rights so we can support each other in the years to come.

I'm now entering my 2nd cycle of "non-tracking." I have simply never been able to glean any noticeable benefits from the constant datafication of my behavior (e.g. activity, food tracking, stress, sleep, whatever else). and it causes me stress. I can't imagine going back to that stuff. Hello Timex!

Under the current federal environment, there isn't a lot of appetite for new programs that would result in datafication of immigration status, for good reason. A voter registration brings with it complications that aren't present for a municipal ID, so safe implementation would be challenging.

Found out about this today, and signed up immediately (on discovering, happily, that *ex*-academics are also welcome :) )

Have a feeling it's going to be of interest to a lot of friends on here

We can fight this thing, but we have to do it together - through community, coalition and solidarity

I take that point but a hospital toilet is more appropriate to be turned into a medical device than a home one; and not all datafication and surveillance of everyday life is justifiable by "telehealth". Our drive is never a plain "don't do it" but "decide in awareness of risks".
