All aboard this EFE #Chile service from #Santiago to #Chillán 🇨🇱 This 4.5 hour, 400km trip costs £22 in a 'Premium' seat which has a HUGE recline, onboard these 160km/h Chinese bimode units 🚆 There's also a @diningcar.at which we'll check out soon 😎 #NonstopEurotrip

And that's a bit of a problem, because the fleet on it needs renewing relatively soon, it's pretty obvious buying diesel trains is a non-starter and no one wants a diesel/battery bimode on third rail. And then there's the infra' questions...

That was the plan back in 2019, IET for ECML and 90s and Mk4s for WCML. They'll have to be bimode, just hope they manage to get reasonable seats. The 180s have at least the best seats on the ECML as it is....

Et tu es parti voie 22. De ce que je comprends tous les Régiolis sont bimode (électrique + gasoil) et il y a du trimode (électrique + diesel + batterie) en cours d'expérimentation mais c'est côté Occitanie.

I think it would be hilarious to have a talking train who’s some cursed German-style tier four bimode who’s this huge Frankenstein-like retrofitted thing because they care about air pollution like a “damn big city avocado toast liberal”

If I'm not mistaken that was also a major reason the R sets were made bimode, so they could operate on covered platforms
