#authoring
I'm co-authoring a chapter on linguistic advocacy and activism for the Oxford Research Encyclopedia of Linguistics.

Here's what I have for the opener so far:

With a record like that, Mr. Harshbarger might find himself authoring the GOP healthcare plan this month.

I know that every time I see the videos of ICE separating a family, nearby or thousands of miles away, I experience it partially as guilt for not doing more to stop the horror, for not putting my body on the line to prevent it. How can they live with authoring that cruelty, I ask rhetorically.

When authoring MD/X, so many things are powered by the unified ecosystem. In this tiny example:

→ Link path completion
→ Convert regular links to reference links
→ Sort & dedupe link definitions

...inside directives and JSX. Go nuts 😃

Thank you @wooorm.com & @remcohaszing.nl CS for empowering us!

Great article, Mark. Thank you for authoring and sharing. I guess the BBC were unable to move with the times (e.g. streaming) and while being blackmailed they have been unable to push back on politically motivated external pressures. They need a clear-out at the top to reinstate their objectivity.

He's also an idiot. He's almost literally authoring the ruling against himself.

BREAKING: Rep. Amanda Hemmingsen-Jaeger just won her election to Minnesota’s SD-47, defending the DFL’s majority in the state Senate!

Amanda is an outspoken advocate for working families, co-authoring legislation establishing paid family and medical leave.

Yeah, I was in a workshop for using and authoring Open Educational Resources run by our state university system office. Today’s presentation was by an IT instructor talking about how to use AI agents in your classes. It was painful, but fortunately it was Zoom and I could turn off my camera and mic.

Just for those not aware, Margaret Mitchell is an AI ethicist who was fired by Google after co-authoring the famous "Stochastic Parrots" paper that criticized the entire project of ever-larger LLMs way before most of the people now blocking her had ever heard of them. www.nytimes.com/2021/02/19/t...
A second Google A.I. researcher says the company fired her. (Published 2021)

In my field, my estimate (based on co-authoring with a gazillion people and seeing lots of submitted papers as an editor) is that we have about 90% uptake on ORCID, I reckon. This would be European and American toxicologists and epidemiologists. I bet it varies a lot between fields.

Political science writing is so different from authoring social psychology.

The simmering antagonism is surprising.

This environment soothes that…

PhD students contribute to so many vital things — organising events in the department, (co-)authoring research (including REF-able research), tutoring and supervision for undergrads and masters students, and, like, making the place feel alive

Wow—Sungbok Shin points out that our work on Drillboards was started in 2020 (deepest COVID). Drillboards is a dynamic dashboard with authoring and reader modes where you can create chart hierarchies for varying detail. #ieeevis

Also, look who else was in a panel discussion on that very same day, and is now a SEGM advisor…👇

No wonder not a single trans child has been put forward for PB treatment since the new NHS ‘model’ came into effect.

Oh, and I see Riittakerttu Kaltiala was there, who worked with Cass in Florida.

Blocking hatemongers is one thing but this trend of using mass block lists to avoid hearing from people who might or might not hold points of view you expect to disagree with is unhealthy imo and hurts the platform.

Bluesky was better off with folks like Margaret Mitchell and Giada Pistilli on it.

From @theathletic.com: The Blue Jays won their first World Series in 1992. They won the next season, too, but haven’t won since. Now they’re nine innings away from authoring one of baseball’s best underdog stories.
Can the Blue Jays close the door or will the Dodgers finally come out swinging?
The Dodgers want a dynasty, the Blue Jays want to end a title drought. It all comes down to the wire this weekend, so sit down and strap in.

Busy day ‘authoring’?

And so, of *course* I am a writer. I'm a thing of Words and Will, magicked together by a desire to write the story of myself into the weaving of the communities and people I love. To feel more like a human woman and less like an alien. To have a hand in authoring the story of my life.

Another well-known one is Alex Byrne, notorious for his role in authoring the US version of Cass. Note he is a philosopher with zero expertise in medicine, who has written a number of terrible transphobic articles, several so bad they were publishable only in "The Journal Of Controversial Ideas"
A philosophy professor is the only known author of Trump's big trans health care report. Why? - LGBTQ Nation
Alex Byrne has been an MIT philosophy professor since 1995. But his focus on gender only started in 2018.

Soon I'm heading down to Cambridge to present a paper in their NT seminar. The paper is "The Body Prepared and Offered in the Heavens: Divine Bodies, Sacrifice, and Hebrews," a chapter from the book I'm co-authoring (with Bryan Dyer) on the humanity of Jesus in Hebrews.

social work as an academy is fake.

social work theory is the result of political factors beyond the control of, but directly authoring the conditions of, social workers and the policies warranting them.

Did you or anyone pick up Steven Aftergood's transparency work when he retired from authoring Secrecy News? I really miss it. He's an American hero, as are you.
