John Leech's "Cartoon, No. 1. Substance and Shadow" from an 1843 issue of Punch magazine permanently gave "cartoon" a new meaning in the English language.

📓 An extra special treasure from our stacks...

From 1670 - The Exact Survey of the Microcosmus is an early form of pop-up book, and was likely to be used for studying anatomy or sculpture.
