TrackMeNot - Firefox plug-in that "pollutes" the data cloud generated via web searching. Do we need one for Google Books? Zimmer #gbsfia

Digital disobedience means intentional disruption. Feeding noise into the system. Refusing algorithmic legibility. It’s AdNauseam clicking every ad. TrackMeNot flooding search logs. Fawkes cloaking your face. You’re not a target. You can become an algorithmic ghost.

🔄 Creates an omnivorous click-stream that confuses ad networks' databases, making collected surveillance data meaningless

💡 Follows the obfuscation strategy of #TrackMeNot, shifting the power balance between trackers and tracked users

as well as using obfuscation tools. - Obfuscation in this instance means not only blocking tracking, but making false data points to track (like search queries with TrackMeNot, or ad clicks with AdNauseam) with the goal of losing web services $$ & making it harder to identify "real" data points 3/3

then evaluate three query forgery strategies -- uniform sampling, TrackMeNot-based generation, and an optimized approach that minimizes Kullback-Leibler divergence -- to quantify their effectiveness in obfuscating user profiles. Then we create a [3/6 of https://arxiv.org/abs/2505.09374v1]

also if you like really have the need to continue using google as a search engine there are extensions that automatically search the most random nonsensical shit so they have a difficult time tracking your data . Trackmenot is what it’s called methinks

ps. Tip: TrackMeNot is a non-profit, University-driven app that sends BS requests to seach engines every 10 seconds. It's a browser app and kept me safe from targeted BS for 10 years by now.

Trackmenot
Adnauseam
Privacypossum
WhatCampaign

All these extensions actively scramble data collection on you by causing chaos or replacing strings and making random searches to fuck with algorithms.

I also have Firefox and uBlock. So far I've had no problems. I recently purged the uBlock cache and updated. I'm also running AdGuard Adblocker, Sponsorblock for Youtube, DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials, Privacy Badger, and TrackMeNot. Idk if any of these things are working together to help

@ neurovagrant It's a Firefox fork, with extra privacy and no AI slop. It works with all the extensions I like (uBlock, privacy badger, trackmenot, etc). I've been using it for months, and it's really great. It's regularly updated. I see no ads, no ...

the addon TrackMeNot sends random parsable queries to search engines to obfuscate your data, so your idea of false marketing data exists!

Try this:
– Like & click things you don’t actually agree with
– Watch content way outside your interests
– Search for things at random
– Scroll like a chaos agent
Use tools like AdNauseam and TrackMeNot to flood your profile with garbage. Break their model.

The university tool TrackMeNot does a similar thing for your browser (if your browser doesn't accept it, change your browser).

Vie privée : faites du bruit pour vous protéger de Google et compagnie
Générer de « fausses » recherches pour égarer les traqueurs, c’est l’idée de l’extension TrackMeNot (« Ne me piste pas »).

I use Firefox with uBlock Origin, Improve YouTube!, TrackMeNot, Privacy Possum, AdblockerForYouTube, and Tampermonkey, all for the purposes of stopping YouTube from playing ads.

My Tampermonkey has eight scripts loaded for YouTube. Including one that disables the "Are you still watching?" dialogue.

And then I installed Firefox with uBlock Origin, Privacy Badger and TrackMeNot on her laptop just so she can browse the internet with a lot less headaches.

It's pretty sad that older people who aren't as tech savvy end up in situations like this and companies only make things worse constantly.
