85 years ago, Walt Disney became an FBI informant.

He would inform the Bureau on Hollywood figures he suspected were subversive or linked to communism.

Saw Favourite Person today. She was funny and sweet, and a little bit subversive. So very lucky to have her.

On the day of the Fall of the Berlin Wall, we must remember that the enemy still sows division through brute force and subversive, hybrid efforts.

Ukraine, Georgia, Moldova, Belarus are the most disadvantaged victims.

Ensure the Ukrainian victory.

Help the people of Georgia.

Being subversive at work (we technically aren’t allowed graphic t shirts but I’m wearing a coat over this so the rules can suck it).

Thanks to @thatbearlifts.bsky.social for the inspo.

"THE CREEP TAPES’ second season is a solid upgrade from its freshman year. These six new episodes channel the tension and terror of the first season, but through surprising and subversive storytelling that seeks to challenge found footage and horror as a whole," @danielkurlansky.bsky.social writes:
‘The Creep Tapes’ Season 2 Is More Evil and Unpredictable Than Before [Review]
The Creep Tapes is back for a stronger and more surprising second season that digs deeper into the fractured mind of a chameleonic killer and the nature of identity. “I think you need to consider more...

Subway has an opportunity here to do some clever, subversive marketing (if they dared).

'Sandwich Guy' as new Subway spokesperson?
Cheeky tagline?

This whole Andreessen thing is a good reminder that you shouldn’t confuse vice with competence. Just because the guy is rude & subversive does not mean that he has intelligent things to say

i think it's quite strange how we went from a place where artists who were doing left of center pop music were highly underappreciated and only really adequately valued by the true freaks for a long time... to now the idea of someone making subversive pop music being pretty overrated and overvalued

right, there's no zest to it at all, they barely think of the characters, just oh no, look at how subversive we are, oooh.. FOH with that weak sauce

I almost said "anti-moderation," except that credit card companies and advertisers have ensured that the internet is actually *quite* heavily monitored and policed — but only for adult content, queer content, and subversive leftist speech. So "villain-moderated" it is

The sad thing is, I could see Betty Boop working - not in horror, but in other genres.

Subversive queer period romance with Sally Swing, a human drama revolving around the culture shift imposed upon the character by the Hayes Code, a surrealist adaptation of Bimbo's Initiation... this is just dull.
A Betty Boop horror film adaptation ‘BOOP’ is in the works.

The film is being introduced to buyers at the American Film Market by VMI Worldwide.

our own hidden spaces and isolated communities. If any of our culture and writing still exists, it'll take on a subversive and seductive quality. After that, whoever finds it will recognize how good it is. How much we actually foresaw about the way the world was going. How much better their world...

Day 10: The Apples in Stereo - Seems So
#20SongsByYear 1997

There's something subversive about the Apples' jangly, sunny pop. Maybe it's because the song never spells out what marvel he's seen or whether it was real.

not saying there isn't still plenty of capacity to make pop music "weird" - but like, maybe the 2010's to now obsession with projecting way too much subversive intention into not particularly artistically adventurous pop music salted the earth there a little bit.
