#Spectrogram
I still never got back to spray painting my gay spectrogram sculpture. Damn.

New neighbors are doing some sawsall wall demo work next door and it somehow has hit a resonant sweet spot and is shaking our house, lol. Shows up quite well on spectrogram. Their house is 50’ from ours and we’re on separate 1930’s foundations with concrete footings and wood joists.

They caught me splicing my diaper videos during the wetting part by observing spectrogram

Well no that would be superhuman. But I have a terrible ear for phonology so anyone who's good at that kind of stuff is a wizard to me anyway. You ever see them figure out what word is being said from a spectrogram?? Witchcraft.

Also, the way you did vowel formant analysis then was to print out a narrowband spectrogram with a mirrored wideband spectrogram above on onion paper, then fold it in half to look at both simultaneously

Having a spectrogram app on your phone is very fun

No lol, just occasionally hear a noise that I think sounds cool and I like to record it.
Or more recently look at a spectrogram of the sound to see if I can make it out from the chart

... it never occured to me to animate a transition between a narrowband to a wideband spectrogram. (made with praatpicture github.com/rpuggaardrod...)

Damn that sound spectrogram even looks like a flock of starlings

It's too bad eBird protocol says my nocturnal flight calls need to be logged under a separate account from my regular birding - else I'd be really increasing my overall life list, like this Yellow-billed Cuckoo from 4:15am

My grad student Ashley Staab will be defending her Masters work next week! Cute birds ("the bobs"), cool bioacoustics methods (ohun R package call template analysis, machine learning), & fun results (we can identify which bird called!). Let me know if you want a zoom link: Elizabeth.Hobson@uc.edu
