Here's today's look at the massive sunspot group, currently turned Earthward. If you have eclipse glasses, take a look. #Dwarf3 smartscope

AR 4274 exhibits a twisted magnetic field, crackling with energy. NOAA places the chance of the group kicking off another X-class flare at 35%, not bad odds. The group is now large enough to see with eclipse glasses easy… no magnification needed. It could be an exciting spaceweather weekend.

We are so happy to see @juliaastro.org leading a #JuliaLang workshop at #AAS247!

Our inaugural #Astro101 for @unistellar.bsky.social #smart #telescope users introduced 30 participants to #Julia for data analysis — showing how #smartscope users can explore #astronomy with professional-grade tools.🧪🔭
Would you or your colleague like to improve the performance of your data analysis? Then please join us at our @julialang.org workshop at the 247th @aas.org meeting on Jan 3, 2026 in Phoenix, AZ. The regular registration deadline is Nov 7.

Caught first sight of Comet C/2025 A6 Lemmon with the Dwarf3 smartscope this AM... could just make it out as a fuzzy patch near the 2nd 'leap of the gazelle'. That's two Comets in 24 hours.

Once upon a time I owned four telescopes. I recently sold two bigger ones that hardly ever got used, ordering a SeeStar S30 smart scope. With the chaos of the last week today was the first time I took it out for a test drive. Not bad for first light. #SeeStar #smartscope #astronomy #astrophotography

I think I had to be quite specific - ended up with the Hantek 2D72 which works pretty well (it's a bit more fiddly than my smartscope, but doesn't require me to get a laptop out). And with a waveform generator for all your pretty pattern needs!

Seeing sucks, too cloudy to take the smartscope up to the roof to image, but the moon broke through for a quick shot from the yard. Seestar S50, 30 sec avi, processed in Autostackkert and Reg6. #astrophotography #Moon

It is indeed a special telescope camera thingy!!! A little robotic "smartscope" that looks like this. We love the #Seestar50 - super easy to use and it doesn't completely break the bank.
