Silurians?

Now I'll be probably be yelled at, but I don't think the marriage of Jenny and Madame Vastra would have been believable if they used the Classic model of Silurians

Even Moffat had this view, when he took over he and Chibnall immediately began working on the return of the Silurians as they had more potential in the revived format. The revival hasn't really figured out where the Ice Warriors fit beyond "make Mark happy".

"Homo aqua", scientifically, seems like a misnomer since these aquatic creatures are said to be akin to Silurians, which are thought to be reptilian (or maybe even dinosaurs?) In any case, probably not mammalian and therefore not any species of homo.

The Silurians are *the* monster with a nuanced political underpinning. They were here first, get out their country. And it's fair to say this goldmine has been left entirely intact by the TV show so far, and that now would be a good time to get out that pickaxe.

But they aren't from the genus Homo, or even the family Hominidae. Hell they aren't even mammals; a central component of their disdain for humans is that like the Silurians, they want to restore reptiles to earth dominance.

And I highly doubt they'd be going by a Latin classificational name.

It's sometime in November 1969, but both teams seem to still be working that month.

By the time Silurians starts studio, Letts is in sole charge.

Look outside of the fact that I no longer have a Disney Plus account and even knowing that the ONLY Who content after that won't be airing until the end of 2026 I dunno if I can bring myself to watch a spin off of the worst version of UNIT and yassified Boring Water Silurians

Doctor Who and the Silurians :
Bonne histoire sur le papier mais bon, on s'ennuit un peu et c'est trop long. Même si parfois j'avais un petit espoir que le rythme accélère, ce n'était qu'un espoir. Sinon j'adore le 3ème Docteur de John Pertwee. Et puis la relation Docteur/UNIT et bien !

Doctor gets a BRILLIANT short term companion who works so much better than Amy and the face makeup on the Silurians is brilliant. The "9 minutes" section is farcical though in terms of how quickly things get done (a real curse of TV in general) but keeps the atmosphere going at least, but the

for as much as I'm broadly sympathetic to Polanski's Greens (more than other parties at least) this video is not great

although it is very funny to cut the line from Zephaniah's poem about Picts, Celts and Silurians so Polanski's inclusive definition of British purposely excludes those

Celebrating Timothy Combe, who is 89 today.
Superlative work as a director on The Silurians & The Mind of Evil - each & every time I revisit these stories I always find something new to appreciate.

Revisiting "Doctor Who and the Silurians" with the commentary track on and what a treasure. I love that Terrance Dicks has absolutely NO filter.

Spotted on the M4. They're getting quite brazen these days, aren't they? What next, Sea Devil Pneumatics...?

Back in prehistoric times, the Doctor and Alice find something that can’t exist- Cyberized Silurians
It’s not like the Lizard Kings from that Alan Barnes comic, these are the reptiles of Earth, not Mondas. This should not be possible.

No Silurians? 😓

hey come on now, not all Silurians are like that! /hj

Not to be confused with Silurians, who are ancient, noble, and beautiful.

I’ve spent my “self-pity” time declutterring and throwing things away, and I dragged these down. Two boxes of Doctor Who VHS tapes(not all of them in the picture).

I feel like I should put them out, instead of keeping them stored away.

I’m at the point where the Doctor now knows who the Silurians are and what they’re planning, and is trying to broker peace. In this story it seems like that might actually lead to peace, rather than in most stories where it simply establishes character.

There's no peace on Earth for the Silurians in the latest episode of TARDIS Schmardis -- while my wife would rather talk about trilobites, Rankin-Bass holiday specials, and thai soup!

Episode Ten (Dr. Who and the Silurians)
Listen to this episode from TARDIS Schmardis (a.k.a. Who Cares?) on Spotify. This week ISN'T the holiday episode of our non-Webby-nominated podcast since the Silurian serial totally trashes the whole ...

THE SEA DEVILS (1972)

Iconic villain alert! The Silurians' underwater cousins make their debut, and The Master returns with a sneaky scheme coordinated from his prison cell. So many great moments here - the beach, the sword fight, the Clangers - but its too long and rehashes DWATS plotting.

★★★½☆
