Esther Ghey's actions are the reason I just had a conversation with my siblings and fiancee, instructing them to ban my parents from any future funeral or memorial in my honour, along with anyone else using any kind of rationalisation to deadname me.
Brianna Ghey was not murdered for being Esther Ghey's daughter, and Esther locating the problem of her daughter being murdered by radicalised cis kids in her daughter being trans is a result of her class loyalty. She simply wants to prevent kids from being trans. She gets no more grace from me.

Dorna and the FIM have just announced a new Road To MotoGP program. It is part rebranding, part rationalisation.
At the bottom MiniGP becomes MotoMini, national championships for 10-14 year olds on Ohvale machines.
Above that Moto4, the old Talent Cups, on Honda NSF250Rs.

That's certainly the link I've always made. Otherwise what's the modern rationalisation for it? Jesus too busy for everyone's prayers? Surely not

Rationalisation/efficiency, yes. But as we are repeatedly told, at least we do still have jobs.

Are you actually joking lmao? Religion is a huge motivator in hate crime, the rationalisation of literal genocides- no apologist in their right mind would say this about a lack of belief in God because they know the evil that has been done in the name of God.

12/25 Then came the rationalisation.
In 1968 – three years after CBP's global success – the makers of Wonder Bread in the US bought Tweedy.
They weren't interested in the mixer engineering business. They wanted to optimise their portfolio.

We calm the tension through rationalisation. We tell ourselves we recycle. We say one flight does not matter. We hope technology will save us.
It is easier to justify habits than to change them, because behaviour follows reinforcement more than conscience.

Every single rationalisation for contributing to X, volunteering time and effort help prop up not just Elon Musk's ad revenues but his overarching white supremacist colonial project, is shallow and nonsensical
Yes [insert group] is still on there. That is bad, and you should fight that, not succumb

This is a "recommended" tweet pushed to a (very much not-Nazi) contact's iPhone lockscreen last week.
Who knows how many millions it was pushed to by Musk's platform, including in this case, in the UK?
It's now been deleted, but only after getting thousands of RTs.

It's weird watching hardline Labour loyalists who would vote for them regardless acting like careful, sober rationalisation of possibilities drives voters. Those voters may just as easily conclude that having been insulted, ignored and taken for granted, they just don't care anymore, FPTP be damned.

there's no data showing men are biologically programmed to lust after under-25s exclusively. most 50-year-old men won't be able to tell the difference between a 24-year-old and a 28-year-old; and women are fertile well over 25. it's social. the biological explanation is rationalisation

A very good post from Sam which feels familiar.
I know I rant too often about queuing theory and the NHS but too often “efficiency” and “rationalisation” takes no account of the brute realities of the mathematics.
It’s also why Sam’s understandable desire for a place in the queue app is so hard.

we do not consider enough things as acts of violence. amongst these is the compulsive sharing of images of human misery in the wake of atrocity. there is an easy self-rationalisation about raising awareness, but this conceals the need to make other people feel as bad as you do about having seen it.
Do you have any extremely niche, but serious, ethical stances?

«Là où Orwell construisait dans 1984 un système totalitaire fondé sur l’hyper-contrôle et la surveillance, Fortier décrit une dérive bien plus insidieuse : celle de la sidération collective, de la rationalisation complice, de l’adhésion passive déguisée en pragmatisme.»
Essai subversif : radiographie de l’extrême droite moderne
Faux manuel de conversion au fascisme, ce livre génial décape les illusions démocratiques. Satire percutante et érudite de notre présent.

if Everyone likes it, then it's not challenging anyone, and it's not going to be remembered or cared for. (and ig maybe in roundabout way this is also part of my rationalisation for hating people with generic "best albums of all-time" lists because like,,, what experience of Yours is here?)

If it’s ok to throw a brick through Peters widow then we’re saying it’s ok for RW idiots to throw one through Chloe Swarbrick’s window. Got to condemn all this shit or none of it. No equivocation, no rationalisation. Don’t go to politician’s houses and don’t do this shit it’s wrong full stop.

I wonder if anyone was ever called in for an interview without biscuits to explain why their tank rationalisation program had settled on one expensive tank that couldn't be produced in large numbers, and one extremely expensive tank that couldn't even be produced in small numbers.

Guess what? This is true. Like, backed by fraud professionals true.
The fraud triangle is Pressure, Opportunity, Rationalisation.
It's kinda funny that the "Opportunity" and "Rationalisation" aspects are partly exacerbated by female staff being taken for granted by the male boss.
