👋 Breastfeeding & infant feeding expert here! All babies need safe, accessible nutrition. Most people already want to breastfeed and 84% start out doing so but can’t realize their goals. What we need are *policies* that make it possible to breastfeed for all who desire to do so and…

1. All babies need safe, secure nutrition.
2. It's up to governments (not individual women) to invest in policies that make it possible for people to meet their breastfeeding goals.
3. All families deserve transparent, evidence-based information about nutrition -- instead of stigmatizing rhetoric.

Very worried we are in for more of these cases, as trust in health institutions continues to plummet and we see the general discourse in nutrition devolve in the most extreme version of good/bad thinking that we've ever seen.
A 5-month-old baby died, & 3 surviving children, ages 2, 4, & 5, had to be hospitalized with rickets, osteopenia, vitamin D deficiency, & significant developmental delays bc their parents put them on “alkaline diets.”

Anyone saying alkalization has health benefits is a murderous liar & a charlatan.

This is just like Dr Oz confusing his role as an administrator of the country's most technical paperwork and medical standards department with being undersecretary of nutrition or something. YOUR JOB IS TO ROLL OUT ICD-11 NOT TELL ME TO EAT FEWER COOKIES
I just think it’s funny they told this reality TV bimbo he was secretary of transportation and his little pea brain immediately thought he was supposed to come up with travel advice
it’s pretty funny that Duffy is simultaneously

1. scolding passengers for not wearing fancy clothes while flying

2. supporting airport gyms so passengers can be sweaty and gross while flying

both of these proposals are idiotic but the direct contradiction is next level

All other things being equal, breastmilk seems to be healthier than infant formula. But many moms have trouble breast-feeding, so the best option is whatever gets good nutrition to the baby.

It's almost like formula was invented to provide adequate nutrition to babies when their mothers COULD NOT BREASTFEED, ROBERT!

And with the end of infant hepititus vaccinations, more and more mothers will be giving their babies a dangerous disease along with nutrition.

As soon as he starts lactating, he has a chance to be credible on the topic of infant nutrition.

Until then, he would do best (or less harm, at least) if he would just STFU.

Despite having seriously, truly, absolutely no basis to judge whether any of it—the measurements, the geometry, the math, the end result—is true. This is also how disinformation about stuff like nutrition works. People just say stuff, and it sounds specific, but it’s all cotton candy.

The rest we need to repair our nervous system is analogous to the rest a muscle needs after exertion to grow. It's understandable we'd associate rest w/ danger or "laziness," given our experiences & programming, but we need to reframe it-- along w/ nutrition-- as essential.

Today, I introduced the bipartisan Medical Foods and Formulas Access Act to help infants and others with medical conditions that limit the food they can eat access the nutrition they need.

It is enraging. Many women have jobs that make breastfeeding impossible or difficult. Some women have problems producing enough milk. Some babies have problems latching on and can’t get enough nutrition. There are many other issues. Breastfeeding is great, but formula is a fine alternative.

I wonder what is being fed thought that IV?
IVs on the back of the hand are for delivering fluids, medications, blood, or nutrition directly into the bloodstream quickly, common for hydration, antibiotics, chemotherapy, or transfusions.

No other explaination.

The thing no one tells you about marathon training is that (for most of us) to have a successful outcome, we’ve got to consume what will probably described as “nutrition credits” on Earth 2149.

My wife and I are both 6’1” and we ended up with a pair of 10 pounders. I have no idea if things would have eventually worked out, but we figured large person genes plus good maternal nutrition equals huge hungry babies and we didn’t want them to go starve.
