We need a concerted international effort to detach ourselves from the current tech monopolies. They're beyond accountability. There are other options for mobileOS out there. For every u.s. powerhouse app there are European versions covered by actual privacy laws.

if people genuinely cared that much it woulda been picked up 15 years ago and devs and others woulda taken it seriously but everybody knows that it's a waste of time and doesn't change anything.

PC OS market has been dead for decades. (not that mobileOS is any better)

I find it weird how elusive granular controls over notifications (at OS/mobileOS level in partic) are. theyre priced like adtech views. its really a power struggle between many private actors beholden to shareholder value and none of them partic care about our mental health or agency.

Get an old laptop w/ wired Ethernet. Run TAILS/Linux with same apps.

If you're making a "tiktok replacement app" and it's only available on iOS, you're doing it wrong. First thing you want is to capture the biggest audience possible. Ignoring 40% of a potential user base is a lack of product strategy, and shorts your potential to get to the traction gap.
