*for 2D stuff, obvs. For 3D, Meshlab is my workhorse

These are all photograms of real objects and places, processed in MeshLab, dithered in peeshop, laser etched onto wood, and then printed on paper. So multi-media!

I see! Thanks for the info!

I don't know how to code at all so I don't think I'll use openscad haha. I note for meshlab if stuff aren't printing well!

I'd never heard of Meshlab before - running the model through one of the simplification models there made everything much quicker.

I feel like I've levelled up from printing others models, to modifying a model.

Next level is building a model from scratch!

Ffs...MeshLab really is the prime example for why OpenSource projects shouldn't be built my only coders. I'm sure the code is absolutely great, because it can handle meshes with absolutely insane vertices count. But the actual user experience is miserable.

#PhallusThursday! By the mid-20th century, archaeologist JM Luengo identified this stone anthropomorphous found in the Castro de Elviña (#Coruña, Galicia,Spain) as a phallic idol.
New Meshlab studies are reading it otherwise... or do they...?
What do you think...?

Well, actually, in that same room there are these other schematized anthropomorphic portraits in tombstones from other Galician places... And right now for the first time I can almost see what you have seen on the other one... 0_0 Maybe we could "meshlab" it, @museoshistoricosac.bsky.social...?

Ich habe dazu diese open source Software (InVesalius) genutzt, um erst mal aus mehreren Scans 3D Modelle zu extrahieren. Danach dann alles mit Meshlab gefiltert und zusammengefügt.

I just downloaded the Eagle Tower OBJ and checked it out in MeshLab: a beautiful data set!

I don’t have a 3D scanner but I want to 3D scan something.

What’s the recommendation in the year two thousand and twenty five?

Photogrammetry with meshlab? Lidar scan with my phone?

I have a light box and a motorized turntable if that is useful.

Anyone east of Seattle have equipment they […]

bizarre! I know meshlab and Cinema 4D throw a hissy fit if you omit (or include, can't remember) the newline

Meshlab is great for aligning meshes to one-another by features, but kinda shit for aligning to planes and translating them.

I REALLY wish it had a back button.

Insult in injury was placing a mesh and then reloading the project to find it had never saved the rotational translations.

Then...started a couple of hours trying to figure out how to get Mathematica to export something that would print. The slicer said there are non manifold edges, MeshLab said there weren't, if I export without the tubes then the slicer doesn't see half the surfaces...I don't understand what's up.

any meshlab pros here? I generated a 3d model of Bill Reid's 'The Raven and the First Men' from a video capture -> nerf while I was in the museum using Luma labs on my phone. Exported the obj. The result has some big holes in it and I'm trying to close them. I […]
