That's why right-wingers have been filling the airwaves with shit, setting up their own "alternative facts" and media ecosystem, to continue to perpetuate epistemicide against marginal populations and push back against our attempts to present our own struggles, voices, and communities.

it was really funny at the time to juxtapose marginal revolution posters saying "twitter is livelier than ever" with its actual numbers

They already had this, when they passed axing ACA credits. There's no ambiguity that Republicans did that and you can attack them for it. The marginal advantage of having another vote for messaging purposes is, at best, extremely thin, and even negative if it lets some Rs cast a meaningless yes vote
Kaine on why he thinks just getting a vote on healthcare is a win: "We're the minority party, but everybody will get to see who is standing for them when it comes to lowering their healthcare costs"

So yesterday, I made a very modest suggestion of a 99% marginal tax rate on all income over $100M. I'm sure some people might see that as extreme, but let's put it into context.

Laws bent for the rich.

Wages taxed at marginal rates of 20% – 45% plus national insurance contributions (NIC).

Capital gains taxed at 18% to 32%, no NIC .

Dividends taxed at 8.75% to 39.35%, no NIC.

Return on wealth must not be taxed at lower rates.
Nothing will change until the political system is freed from the clutches of corporations and the super-rich
The law is being used to enforce existing power structures for the benefit of the few

The marginal Dem votes in the Senate made a bad choice today, but Republicans win a fight to implement incredibly unpopular policy and they’re still going to face a blue wave in 2026
like as much as this site is in a fit of justified anger over this, the GOP... does not actually win anything by fucking over insurance markets
if they don't fix Obamacare credits and/or fuck it by replacing it with HSAs, next year is going to be uhhhh a healthcare election

What we needed: A useful index of all human knowledge, easily usable to go right to the source.

What we got: A medicore redditor that read every wikipedia page with marginal comprehension and really wants you to like them.

And don't forget to take in this spectacular view of Edinburgh castle.

Oh, my mistake, that's not a castle - it's the Scottish marginal tax rates.

We are going to live in a world where the the marginal cost of electricity is very close to zero
Australia has so much electricity from solar power that it is going to start offering free electricity to everyone for at least three hours during the day as the wholesale price of power goes negative

Australia has so much solar that it's offering everyone free electricity
Australia's extensive solar power penetration makes so much energy that the government wants to offer free electricity at peak hours.

I proudly present the internet's nerdiest and prettiest tax calculator.

Other calculators just calculate your tax. This one calculates your tax now, and under various Budget proposals. And draws a pretty chart showing the marginal and effective rates for *everyone*.

i think the best way to understand schumer is that he’s a figurehead for the marginal dem and does not really possess any agency at all. he’s sort of an outcome agnostic actor. a personified power vacuum

the number of games I play that don't work/run poorly on my steam deck but would run well on the SteamCube(tm) is actually pretty marginal

I mean this is another punishment beating for people between 100k and 125k who’s the salary sacrifice to get the free child care and avoid stupidly high marginal tax rates. Complete nonsense of a policy.

"See, we came together and compromised" is a good talking point when the gettable swing voter has a vaguely positive sense of both parties or how the system is supposed to work. Not when the 50th percentile marginal vote is like "I hate both of them so much" and your offer is "cool, I'm like both!"

Feminist scholars have been saying for at least 200yrs that the world runs on systemic exploitation & oppression of women.

But that's always made a marginal concern, never impt enough for left or center parties to take up as a political issue. "Wait your turn, gals, we've got other things to do."

The only margin Labour are currently at is the marginal of survival. By focusing on a few tactically important constituencies they are missing the overall strategy - govern well, govern clearly, and in the broad interest of your overall voting base. n/n

Once again, marginal income & capital gains taxes are too low & pose an existential threat to the Republic.

An extremely high marginal tax rate on production of a socially desirable thing that there's a broad shortage of, no matter how that tax is spent, seems like... extremely bad policy with a huge deadweight loss
In 2018, then-Mayor Ada Colau called Barcelona’s new 30% inclusionary housing requirement for projects over 600m^2 a “paradigm shift,” making housing “a right and not a commodity.” It was supposed to produce 330 affordable units a year. The reality: just 31 affordable apartments in all these years.
Cuando se ha aprobó esta medida dije repetidamente que iba a ser un fracaso y que no construirían nada de vivienda asequible. Se ha probado en mil sitios y no funciona.

True indeed, but abolishing the Senate needs to be the first step. There's no reform that can make the Senate actually work as it should (reforms could make marginal improvements, but we are beyond needing marginal improvements).
