(Badly-photographed) window displays after my own heart, at the Tom Paine Printing Press in Lewes on Monday. Revival lustreware and letterpress prints, punctuated with probably-Victorian Staffordshire! I have one of Sussex Lustre's mugs featuring a Nightingale, so it was lovely to see their display.

Cases of Japanese characters and leads for letterpress Lead characters set for a letterpress. Translated, the phrase reads "the moon is beautiful tonight, isn't it?". It's a way of saying "I love you" in Japanese to avoid being too direct The letterpress used to print the bookmarks The final bookmarks: one has a camel colours with a printed green tassel; the second one is off-white with an orange dotted line on the left; the third one is yellow with dark yellow leaves in the top corner; the fourth is dark pink and has a stack of books in the centre at the top, smoke frames the text; the last one is a light grey with a book stand and candlelight in a slightly darker printed on the right.

I'd love a big fancy one, they are gorgeous (but expensive and need a reinforced floor!), do most of my printing on a lovely little proofing press rescued from a uni print room after they closed a graphic design course...
A tabletop cast iron letterpress proofing press. It has a cast iron base on which type is placed, and a roller that pressed paper onto that type to take a print.

Just had an order for an A5 custom letterpress print, always nice to do! So I'll be printing "nice & spicy" for someone this afternoon in red ink, probably on some nice cotton rag paper I've got :)
