The encryption key for each Signal user is stored on that user's phone. So the safety of the transmissions and filestore depend on the safety of that key. For Apple phones, it's in Keychain, for Andoids, it's in the Android Keystore. I don't know about Android, but with Apple, phone data can be...

These requirements are met by Pixel devices and are essentially met by iPhones, although with the iOS variant of the hardware interfaces for the hardware keystore, etc. We don't know if iPhones have hardware memory tagging support at a hardware level but they aren't enabling/using it if they do.

I tested it with 4.5, and it works on my end. Please double-check that you’ve added the SHA-1 fingerprint for the correct keystore; the debug one for debug build.
Also, check the debug keystore path in Editor Settings. I ran into the issue initially, then noticed debug keystore was different there.

I still think there's a nonzero chance that someday Twitter just fully disappears forever because somebody accidentally nuked the keystore and Elon cut the restore-from-offline-keys path as "waste"
