it's not tax fraud if you bribe the IRS

The IRS is a tax agency we have to interact with, and also a key means that a lot of safety net programs (EITC, CTC) are delivered.
Since Trump took over, the IRS has
*lost 3/4ths of agency leadership
*one quarter of employees
*is now on its 8th leader
New leader has no experience, also leading SSA

DOGE fired a lot of employees and right now even IRS admits they are shorthanded. The next tax season could be an unholy mess. donmoynihan.substack.com/p/five-quest...

An estimated one-quarter of IRS tax evasion agents have been repurposed to immigration enforcement. Instead of tracking high-end tax evaders, they are looking for metro fare evaders. donmoynihan.substack.com/p/five-quest...

I'm doing research on Direct File at the moment, and DOGE people at IRS did not understand that they were firing the best tech talent *because all of those were probationary.*

We still don't have a good number of how many people were purged and under what conditions. Fells like we should know that.

Like many firms on Wall Street, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent's hedge fund used a limited partnership to avoid Medicare taxes. Unlike the others, he’s now overseeing the IRS.

Under Biden, the IRS launched a program for people to file their taxes FOR FREE (finally!)

Well, Trump ended it because TurboTax donated $1 million to him. This White House is just one big grift while the rest of us pay more for everything.
The IRS is reportedly not offering its Direct File program next year. Here’s a look back at how TurboTax owner Intuit spent two decades fighting to prevent Americans from filing their taxes online for free:

Inside TurboTax’s 20-Year Fight to Stop Americans From Filing Their Taxes for Free
Using lobbying, the revolving door and “dark pattern” customer tricks, Intuit fended off the government’s attempts to make tax filing free and easy, and created its multi-billion-dollar franchise.

fun fact: the irs knew this was gonna happen and put the source on github like a year ago, it doesn't have 100% of the functionality since some of it was irs backend proprietary but it's been forked a bajillion times now
Intuit, parent company of TurboTax, donated $1 million to Trump's inauguration. Always follow the money.

Time coming soon for mass petition to IRS to change Heritage Foundation designation from a 501(c)(3) --which allows tax-deductible donations -- to a political 501(c)(4), which does not.

Some have already registered complaints to IRS about Heritage Foundation for Project 2025.

The White House paid about $60 and change for each of the Home Depot gold-painted wall decorations in Trump’s Ovaltine Office, but Trump will tell the IRS they’re valued at $60000 each and claimed he paid out of pocket. Bet.
