A new program is designed to expand the IBEW's electrical expertise to employers and partners in manufacturing, which once employed 350,000 members before being devastated by offshoring during the last five decades. bit.ly/4fqIekR

The IBEW’s electrical expertise has never been limited to construction or line work. It’s been critical in utilities, transportation, broadcasting and the internet, among many other areas.

Look, I know it's tempting to quote selectively from texts that everybody you're arguing with has read in order to refute them, but when you do, you should be ready for people to pull the section *right above the one you pulled* where the exact point you're refuting is clearly made.

Fair. I'm just saying that there's not only one rail worker's union. That's the IBEW's story, which (understandably) glosses over what other unions weren't satisfied with. And even if it's minor, Biden stopping a strike is stopping a strike. No one knows what could have been if it had gone off

I’ve been a member of the IBEW since ‘96. I can confirm that the ‘brothers’ I work with are trumpers as well as many of our local union reps. Once they get some money in their hands the turn into republicans. The IBEW’s endorsement is worthless because our members are largely for trump.

Charlotte, N.C., Local 379’s Melissa Reyes led the IBEW’s multiyear effort to unionize more than 600 workers at a Westinghouse nuclear fuel assembly plant in South Carolina. Here's her story. bit.ly/3J5mbV0
Openness, Passion Helped This N.C. Member Evolve Into a Leader
Melissa Reyes’ journey to become a dynamic voice for working people in the Carolinas has been anything but conventional. But the member of Charlotte, N.C., Local 379 — who recently led a massive IBEW ...

I’m inclined to believe the IBEW’s statement that there’s been a lot of pressure on the railroads from the administration behind the scenes thats bringing a lot of railroads to the table

At my worksite, we fly several flags in our shops.

From union flags, to those of employees from their home countries.

We fly the US flag, Wisconsin flag, Mexican flag, Canadian flag, Puerto Rican Flag, Spanish Flag, Italian Flag, Boilermaker's flag, and IBEW's flag.

No business should do less

And what happened later?

Plenty of things to legitmately criticize Biden for but labor policy isn't one of them, asshole. The most pro-labor NLRB in decades. That matters, not that you understand. Just a posturing bad faith leftist.

Really weird that the leftist anti-Biden pushback on “Biden is the pro-labor president” is “but the rail workers strike” when THE RAIL WORKERS AND UNION LEADERS ARE HAPPY WITH THE DEAL THEY GOT AND CREDIT THE ADMIN WITH EVENTUALLY HELPING THEM GET PAID SICK LEAVE www.ibew.org/media-center...

We just received additional funding via the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Act to keep the program going for a few more years.

One key piece of IBEW’s work is supporting students with soft skills like interview prep, and career exposure through small projects and field trips.

*BIG SIGH*
I am so unbelievably frustrated with the IBEW's leadership for their abject apoliticality.

On principle, i would join a nationwide strike. However as an apprentice, i definitely run the risk of losing my apprenticeship, and if enough of us showed, we could lose our local charter.

They’re building data centers, every one.

The Reuters article gets used like a cudgel by people saying Biden abandoned the IBEW, while the IBEW's own statement credits him and his administration for working to get their demands eventually met. Hope that clears it up.
