If a U.S. Senator calls heme/onc coverage over the weekend, displaying emergent signs of hypophosphatemia, they're unlikely to be told they have covid and they're otherwise fine and not to come in or do anything

#Geriatrics, #Nephrology and #Endocrine - if you have pulse and an interest in specialty, unless you are literally only applying to Harvard, you will match. We are desperate for fellows, multiple slots go unfilled.
Heme/onc and cardiology, individual programs competitive, but overall, most match

Have a wonderful conference! I've added #AACRdisp25 to the Heme/Onc feed on @medsky.social so all the posts at the event will appear on the feed!

As a Pathologist, we rarely get positive feedback from patients or clinicians, so when we do, we must fully appreciate it. This simple text from a Peds Heme/Onc really brightened my day. #grateful

Our heme-onc chair during a particularly slow day during rounds went off on St Jude for a good 5 minutes it was very educational.

A huge thank you to northwestern hem-onc to help me get in to see benign heme prior to a liver Bx (complicated!! APS tends to do that!)

Today is the 22nd anniversary of my first overnight intern call in the Bone Marrow Transplant unit/heme-onc wing of my hospital. My first attending was my program director. I was so useless, basically a rubber stamp for whatever the nurses suggested. Took about a month to get my legs under me

I survived because my senior sent me home nd wrote my last few notes for me. He was a heme/onc trained abroad so had to repeat medicine residency here. Today ice would probably just have kidnapped him and i would have probably fallen asleep going home: luckily i walked to work then so no car crash

Good luck!
That sounds like a lot of things.
If your lectures go anything like mine (other specialties), you are almost never going to get in all the things you thought you might. :)
I usually prepared so much more than I ended up doing.

Helped out at my school's BS/MD program admitted students day event today. It's awesome how many resources they put into the program and making sure students are successful. Also got to talk to an MS4 who just matched at Mt Sinai for IM (heme/onc interest though) which was a great plus for me

1/ A special thanks to Leanna (who most of YOU know as @thankscancer.bsky.social) for her generous—and UNEXPECTED—donation to M44 today! Did you know she is one of our new Board members? We feel SO fortunate! If you would like to get involved too, read this thread to learn about M44 & what's coming!

I was a clinical pharmacist in a busy VA hospital heme/onc practice for 5 years starting in the late 80s. Biopsies are so important for them to know the best treatment is for you. Waiting may be frustrating, it’s very important.

First day of heme-onc I made the mistake of calling platelets of 48K "marked thrombocytopenia" and I was dragged relentlessly 😭

My course director is making three Connections games each week related to lecture content for this unit (which is fairly heavy on heme onc) and I'm having a little more fun than I should with it
