#HappyBatWeek! It's time for some bat facts! Bat pups can weigh up to one-third of their mother's body weight. In human terms, that would be like giving birth to a toddler-sized baby! WOWZA! Good thing they only give birth to ONE each year! #AlbertaBats

#HappyBatWeek! Nothing prettier than a Hoary Bat nestled in a sage bush! This bat was found in a low roost in a tall sagebrush bush). Hoary Bats are our largest bat in Canada & migrate 2000km or more between summer & winter habitats. They are spectacular! #BatsAreBeautiful #BatsNeedFriends

#HappyBatWeek! Alberta has 9 species of bats (& over half of them are currently considered endangered). To check on the "bat total" we look to batnames.org - a site run by bat experts who track earth's bats. Bat biodiversity is worth celebrating! #bats #biodiversity
