#Gigantoraptor
Puh.

LGBT+ står for Liliensternus, Gigantoraptor, Brontosaurus, Tyrannosaurus!

Gigantoraptor was also toothless, and most likely had a horny beak, although we don’t have the upper jaw to be sure.

They are believed to be normally herbivorous, but opportunistically omnivorous.

They were pretty weird dudes.

Kinda like giant Cretaceous turkeys.

This dino fact is right behind you.

Gigantoraptor, it lived in the Late Cretaceous. It was an oviraptorosaur.

The largest oviraptorosaur we have found, reaching up to 6 meters tall (20 ft) and 8 meters (26 ft) long, which is impressive considering the only specimen we have is a young adult.

A #gigantoraptor for #dinovember. I feel like it should be eating something bigger? I definitely had an ocellated turkey in mind #procreate #dinosaurdrawing

Or gigantoraptor, because it turns out people really enjoy "hateful fucked-up looking bird monster" like the therizinosaur

Like imagine the "what the hell is t h a t !!!" as is comes out like a casowary on roids, or multiple because they disturbed a nesting group

Day 14: #gigantoraptor for #dinovember 💖✨
November 14, 2024 at 8:04 PM
Our next dinosaur would be Shantungosaurus, the largest hadrosaur that we know of. And unlike most hadrosaurs in this franchise, it will be a hostile dickhead instead of just background dressing or fodder for the predators. This thing would be just as feared as the Tarbo and Gigantoraptor.

I combined two monthly challenges into one for today.
#Huevember and #Dinovember Featuring the Gigantoraptor

I had fun with this one.

happy #fossilfriday! bonus: this is gigantoraptor, an oviraptorosaur from late cretaceous mongolia. the proportions of gigantoraptor's hindlimbs suggest that it was a highly cursorial animal despite weighing over two tonnes

The dinosaurs from JWE2's Cretaceous Predator Pack drawn with a bit more "Jurassic Park" and a bit less "Jurassic World" (a technical distinction but an important one). #jurassicpark

So now we know that although the largest crown birds have probably never reached masses of 1 ton, not even aepyornithids. There appears to be no biomechanical reason as to why they coukd not become so large, based upon the near-avian anatomy of Gigantoraptor, yielding such impressive mass estimates.
November 6, 2023 at 3:15 AM
When Gigantoraptor is scaled by upscaling a derived caenagnathid as a model, the holotype animal might have weighed 1.9 tons. Scaled from the more robust oviraptorids, which were maybe 1.4x as massive, the estimated mass is closer to 2.7 tons.

funny coincidence, jurassic world evolution 3 (basically a jurassic park tycoon game) is coming out next month so i’m back in the JP hype cycle.

honestly one of my favourite things about the games is, despite what you would assume from a jurassic park game, some of the animals are absolute goobers

From now on, it's purely first timers.

Our next dinosaur would be none other than Gigantoraptor. And it would be the main antagonist dinosaur because it would be fucking awesome for a giant oviraptorosaur to be in the same league as T. rex, and Spinosaurus.
