I also live in Australia where jobs that aren't "aged care nurse" or "geotech" are non-existent.

To get a role in your industry you have to compete with an army of psychopaths. Who run firms into the ground constricting job availability further.

Guatemala has more job diversity than we do.

The decision made my blood boil. The City focused the environmental on views because that was the only impact. The idea that the report should have covered geotech, noise, or bio resources (in Midway?!) more thoroughly than they did is ludicrous.

Là tu te dis : Bon je fais confiance à la boite de géotech qui a fait le dimensionnement des pieux et à la boite de GC qui a bien été jusqu'à la bonne profondeur ?

Bon d'un autre côté Bangkok c'est un peu un marais

Decent ABC News report actually, with reasonable technical detail. The reddish colour here is the assessed high-risk area for fibrous asbestos. The asbestos was discovered in the camp geotech investigation, so there should be only minor sunk cost (they'll move it).

Specifically, no, don't ask AI to do a Code review.

Signed, an engineer trained as Civil with a Geotech specialty.

We’re 👀 at geotech maps relocating to Cali this year…and AQI data. Multiple covid infections left me with #EosinophilicAsthma and a place called Alameda, California was pitched to us. An overpriced “rehabbed” naval base. Brownfields only get so much reclamation. In-laws should b skewered for the rec

Not just "legitimise", they are working hard on simplifying that extraction
If they don't have to care about Te Tiriti, community damage, water quality, species extinction, geotech issues, other resources affected by their plunder, it can all be sped up, looted and profited from more easily

300dpi is the standard image resolution in the geotech industry. 400+Mb tends to be unusable in Acrobat.

I wonder what the #geotech report said when they built these homes. Bc the ground melted away like chocolate on a 100deg day.

Niiice. I’ve seen some doosies on the geotech report. Worst was the claim of zero rock to 40’…. There was solid rock at 18” down to 30’ or the one that was drilled 500’ from where reported.

No easy fix to clean up the slide on SR 971 South Lakeshore Rd near Chelan. Our geotech team reviewed the site and is working on a plan but it's not going to happen overnight. Road remains closed from the state park to Scenic Ranch Lane, detour is Navarre Coulee Rd. @wspd6pio

pink areas are liquefaction, one our many geologic hazards. Parts of downtown, the stadiums, UW, S Lake Union are built there. A geotech engineer will assess soils, recommend a ‘pile’ foundation—imagine a foundation like a table, but with a lot more legs (‘piles’) that go down to stable soil or rock

I wonder if women in water (Australian Water Association) ever team up with women in GeoTech.

We need some version of getting in the same room the councils, central govt, banks, insurers, developers, planners, geotech, infrastructure owners, domestic and commercial property owners, including but not only rentals, schools, hospitals, the lot
Lock them in until they come out with a PLAN

The FVRD has also been leaders in putting every geotech assessment ever done in the district online so anyone can read them. Unlike, say, City of Chilliwack who hide them away and require FOI to get them.

What role should oil and gas companies play in climate tech?
Industry expertise could transfer to fields like geothermal, but investment is lagging.

Now it's time to review the building site plan and arborist + Geotech soil reports to figure out precisely which trees to take down & the best soil erosion management plan for construction.
