There were also a few Sharkey sites I have blocked. Sharkey is losing its popularity, given all the drama and other issues sounding that development.
You can verify that claim by visiting FediDB, which claims there are only 384 Sharkey sites left, out of the 34,000 Fedi sites they track (see […]

We on the #fediverse often think of our competitors as #bluesky or #twitter, but the real activity these days is with #threads. Today, they announced 150M DAUs [0], which compares with 4.1M for Bluesky and 132M for Twitter.

@fedidb According to your stats, the last "Popular Account", on page 12 in the grid view, has 1.4k followers, and the next one up has 2.8k.
I follow someone with 1.9k followers, who posts regularly, and he is on an instance that you track (mastodon.africa), but he doesn't appear in your list of […]

いまFediverseのサーバーが33188個あるらしく(FediDBより)、ドメインごとにブロックしようとしたら33188個のドメインをブロックリストに登録しないといけないし、日夜サーバーは増えていく。

fedidb and fediverse.observer are usually fairly close except sometimes one or the other shows a random inexplicable one-day spike of millions of users ... which goes away.
Fediverse Observer checks all sites in the fediverse and gives you an easy way to find a home from a map or list or automatically.
Fediverse Sites Status. Find a Fediverse server to sign up for, find one close to you!

@dansup is there any possibility to export all the .TLDs in the Fediverse from @fedidb ?
Just thought about many servers are hosted on non-US Servers - but many of the TLD Registrars are US based

The fediverse needs better developer resources. The kind ATProto has.
Fixing that gap: rich docs, interactive examples, instant prototyping.
Built indie-style with FediDB, browser.pub and other community resources to create a better foundation for fedi devs.
Sometimes one spark is all it takes. ✨

Watching bsky people react to the predictably awful censorship rules taking shape next month and people saying "We'll just have to make bsky 2!"...
....
Hey yknow.
If you want to do that.
I've heard of a few webapps you can throw at some hosting to make your own, and fediDB says over 30k […]

This looks cool and might be exactly what I'm looking for tbh, thanks!
I should've worded my post better, what I really wanted was to find software/services that have atproto integration, similar to the software section in fedidb. The only way I find other atp apps are when someone posts about it

not really, the closest thing is bsky.app/profile/tree... but it's not released yet and not super similar to fedidb in terms of finding servers
hopefully components in atproto can adopt nodeinfo or a similar standard to make discovery and directories like fedidb this possible

Project discovery in the #ATmosphere is a challenge.
I'm thinking of an on-protocol registry using a shared Lexicon (like `net.atscan.registry.item`) where anyone can list their project as a record.
Good idea? #atdev #atprotocol

@mmasnick.bsky.social The Fediverse has a tool for tracking "decentralization" in the form of FediDB. What tool can I use to look at this for Bluesky?

idt people realize how easy it is to just take every US instance off of fedidb, use the IP to determine the hosting provider, then send each said hosting provider a notice
lol. lmao.

But, we are not *that* far off of that outcome on the fediverse. FediDB says right now, total fediverse MAU is hovering a bit below a million; 973k. mastodon.social is 273k MAU. Losing 28% of your users is pretty far off from losing 99% of them, but it would still be pretty devastating.
