#LIBresearch: New study by Dennis Rödder & colleagues models #ClimateChange impacts on the tiger gecko (Goniurosaurus luii). Results show a “narrow door” effect, where only species with certain traits can persist. 🦎

🚨 New in Nature Food: how much does your food choice affect #ExtinctionRisk?

A study co-authored by SEI York’s Jonathan Green shows impacts can differ by orders of magnitude – with animal products and tropical production driving the greatest risks.

Exciting to see the Tenerife speckled lizard (Gallotia intermedia), a Critically endangered species.

The lizards are literally hanging on the cliff of extinction due to predation by feral cats, pushing them to sub-optimal, more vertical, habitats #biodivesity #extinctionrisk #canaries #tenerife

Sharks are in trouble:

🦈 Global populations halved since 1970

🦈 71% decline in oceanic sharks

🦈 Over 1/3 of chondrichthyans threatened

🦈 Yet demand for meat and fins keeps rising.

Overheating is a growing threat. 🐸🔥 Over 100 amphibian species already face dangerous heat stress. At +4°C warming 7.5% could exceed their survival limits. Shaded refuges help but won’t be enough. Urgent action is needed to protect them.
