Koryx Copper shifts drilling completion date
Koryx Copper has revised its drilling schedule for the Haib project after facing delays with equipment and operations. This adjustment means Koryx anticipates completing 28 000 metres (m) of drilling by the end of 2025. Initially, Koryx had aimed to drill 55 000m across its phase two, three and four programmes by the close of 2025. Haib is a copper project that is envisaged to produce a copper concentrate via a conventional crushing/milling/flotation metallurgical process, with the potential for additional copper production via heap leaching. Koryx Copper chief executive Heye Daun says the project continues to improve, albeit at a slightly slower drilling pace than expected. “We now have a bulked-up technical team in place, with additional drill rigs expected to arrive within the next few weeks, which should improve our drilling rate from the second half of the year,” says Daun. The project is being carried out in four phases. Under the revised schedule, the phase two programme is now expected to be completed by mid-year. The subsequent phase three programme will likely extend into the end of the first quarter of 2026. “This adjustment means Koryx anticipates completing 28 000m by the end of 2025, with a significant portion of this drilling activity occurring in the latter half of the year,” says Daun. Finally, the phase four infill drilling programme, designed to convert the entire mineral resource to an indicated category, is now slated to begin in the second quarter of 2026 and is targeted for completion by the end of that same year. “Early results from the phase two drill programme are encouraging. Indications suggest that inclined drilling along modelled structural corridors has the potential to deliver continuity of improved grades, particularly in the target two and target three areas that have been tested to date,” says Daun. According to Daun, Koryx is currently developing a revised geology model that seamlessly integrates lithological, geochemical and structural insights gleaned from recent drilling. “This meticulous approach is aimed at improving the company’s ability to identify and target higher-grade areas with greater precision,” says Daun. Koryx Copper Inc. is a Canadian copper development company focused on advancing the 100%-owned Haib Copper Project in Namibia.
