What would you call this? I'm afraid the methodologist's razor never caught on.
The Methodologist's Razor:

Never attribute to the phenomenon of interest that which can be adequately explained by measurement error.

q for metrics / stats folks ( econsky, dataSkyence)

is there any work on treatment effect estimation on point processes i should know about? For each unit, consider an event stream of events with time-stamp, and I don't want to artificially bin them into even time windows (unbalanced panel).

Hey #datascience #dataskyence #academicsky I'm a Master student in Machine Learning and Data Mining. Is there some academic/professional that I could connect to about:

- Physics informed NN (PINN)
- ML applied to Natural sciences
- ML applied to Sociology
- ML applied to Economics and policy

Reposting a twitter thread on that got me a thousand likes back in 2018.

I very much recommend textbooks from Jonas Peters, Peng Ding and Stefan Wager in addition to these "classics".

Folks are asking for resources for learning about causal inference.
Here is a comprehensive reading list since no one address all issues —
What is causality?
When is a causal relationship is knowable?
How to infer causal relationships given from noisy and limited data?

These two books, by @anilananth.bsky.social and @tomchivers.bsky.social, are the first two books in a very long time that I read in their entirety without significant pause or other diversion along the way.

I cannot recommend them enough!

Nice #dataskyence comic! Do you know the source? 3 #machinelearning robots 🤖 complain: #SupervisedLearning - they gave me so much to read, and test! #unsupervised - Me too. But at least they told you the answers. #reinforcementlearning - At least you don't get punished for every wrong action. 😆
