In the upcoming #UKBudget, does it make sense to "protect the NHS"? Our #NHSProductivityCommission analysis suggests we were already getting poor value for money pre-pandemic, relative to comparator countries. Full report here: bit.ly/3WPxu76 #dataisbeautiful

This chart looks at ingredients from over 100k recipes, and lists them out in order of popularity. Oils, salt, and pepper were taken out.

Not surprised to see onions/garlic in the top 5, but I think butter's/egg's popularities are cuz this probably lists out baking recipes too

Pleased to have contributed to this timely, and thoughtful, article, by @barneymac.bsky.social at The Observer, on #AI and graduate #jobs. I agree with the main take: the broader economy is a bigger cause of young people's job challenges than AI. #dataisbeautiful

Yes, today’s jobs market is tough for graduates – but AI ...
Figures show that while competition is tight, it’s the economy not tech that is the cause

Stolen from r/dataisbeautiful, this data visualization shows the IMDb ratings for each episode of South Park!

It shows that the latest seasons are really not good (I stopped watching a long time ago, now i know why ).

Pleased to see that monthly #GDP got almost no coverage on Friday. Way more interesting are the long-term trends in, e.g., the sectoral statistics. This chart is one (important) illustration, when talking about things like #growth and #industrial strategy... #dataisbeautiful

Using Avid Reader and Geoff as a visual representation of how much tea I drink during an average weekend spent reading. Geoff could also be drinking coffee but the central woodwork should illustrate heart palpitations and anxiety instead.

Fascinating ONS analysis on business dynamism and productivity (https://bit.ly/41mctVf ). The UK suffers from a 'big bulge' of below-average firms: >70% of employees work in firms with productivity below the mean. Also, older, large firms and micro, new firms key to job creation. #dataisbeautiful

I wanted to make some stats on some of my repos, and I could not find a tool to plot the usage of each language over time.

So I made it myself: github.com/BarthPaleolo...

Works on any git repo, you can filter languages and specify a time frame among other things! #programming #dataisbeautiful

The trade war and #tariffs could push UK #inflation up or down, as strong forces act in both directions. Interestingly, #markets at the moment require a _lower_ compensation for medium-term inflation than at the beginning of 2025. #dataisbeautiful

I recently decided to #visualize the sleep data downloaded from my smartwatch.

Hover over hour to see a calendar of days slept at that hour, Andover rings to see the month's summary

On the eve of International Women's Day, we need to pay more attention to issues around women's #wellbeing and the #GenderHealthGap. You may think women living longer is unequivocally a good thing, but none of those extra years are (on avearge) lived in good health. #IWD2025 #dataisbeautiful
