#DataFlows
Who likes IntelliSense? I do.
Who likes Dataflows (cough - gen 1 only)? I do.

Well, we can have both, finally.

Day 457 @clickly.app

Adding more functionality to the data formulas editor.
This time, it's the ability to build sub-dataflows within the same data formula.

Yeah totally. Like, if you’d presented the current real time planetary dataflows to the guys at Darpanet, decent chance their brains would have exploded. There’s maybe an argument that Amazon, who fell into AWS to an extent, were evolutionarily funnelled into the scale they’re operating at.

I wrote an entire article on moving to Dataflow Gen2 and stop using Dataflows as a source.

The bottom part included inventory of your dataflows.l, which could be helpful in your case too.

#powerbi Power BI folks...is there any way to tell which datasets a Dataflow is being used in? We need to sunset a bunch of dataflows and minus going through the Item Lineage 1 by 1...there doesn't seem to be an easy button unless I'm missing something.

NEW BLOG POST!

Dataflows were (rightly?) considered "the slowest and least performant option" for ingesting data into #PowerBI #MicrosoftFabric. However, things are changing rapidly, and the latest DF enhancements may change the way we play the game.

StreamTensor: A PyTorch-to-Accelerator Compiler that Streams LLM Intermediates Across FPGA Dataflows
Why treat LLM inference as batched kernels to DRAM when a dataflow compiler can pipe tiles through on-chip FIFOs and stream converters?StreamTensor is a compiler that lowers PyTorch LLM graphs (GPT-2, Llama, Qwen, Gemma) into stream-scheduled dataflow accelerators on AMD’s Alveo U55C FPGA. The system introduces an iterative tensor (“itensor”) type to encode tile/order of streams, enabling provably correct inter-kernel streaming and automated insertion/sizing of DMA engines, FIFOs, and layout converters.

Nice. Happy to help you w graph ideas if you ever want it. Been obsessed and using them since about 2017. First used them to map out dataflows across all servers in a datacenter. Then used them to map out the malware infected internet. Then to map out malware. Blah blah blah. I have done a lot. 😂

In using Lakehouse.Contents and Fabric.Warehouse connectors in dataflows Gen 2. I was told they use the sql endpoint under the hood.
I'm triggering synchronization but looks like it's not enough
September 4, 2025 at 9:21 AM
So refreshing the SQL Endpoint is not enough?? I thought I had the ultimate pipeline and yet dataflows still read empty tables where there should be data. @stepanresl.bsky.social ? Do we need a time buffer before and after refreshing the endpoint as well?
