A moment for Monatiquot River’s before & after! 🙌

This #DERPriorityProject removed two dams, built a fish ladder, reconnected 36 river miles & created a recreational space for Braintree. And for the first time in 200+ years, river herring returned to migrate this spring! 🐟

New construction alert🚧 Chosen as a #DERPriorityProject in 2018, the South Meadow Wetland Reserve Easement Restoration in Carver will begin construction this month! The project will restore 34 acres of retired commercial cranberry farmland into healthy, self-sustaining wetlands.

The Coonamessett River is open for migratory fish! 🐟
Decades in the making, this #DERPriorityProject opened 2.2 miles of river & restored 56 acres of wetlands along the middle & lower bogs in 2020. Construction is underway for the upper bogs - stay tuned! #EarthWeek

Windswept Bog construction has officially wrapped up! This month, construction was completed on the Windswept Bog Restoration on Nantucket. While it may look muddy now, this process restored 40 acres of former cranberry bogs into flourishing, connected wetlands. 🚧➡️🌾 #DERPriorityProject

Interested in learning about #DERPriorityProject Century Bog Restoration? Project partners are holding a "Walk and Talk" on 3/30 and a public meeting on 4/1. Join us to learn about the process and benefits of cranberry bog restoration! ⬇️
A flyer that gives additional information about Century Bog ecological restoration project public information meetings. Sunday, March 30th at 1pm is a walk and talk where attendees will take a guided tour and learn how this retired cranberry bog will be restored to a more naturalized system of streams and wetlands. It will take place at Red Brook Wildlife Management Area at 265 Barker Rd in Wareham. Then on Tuesday, April 1st at 6pm, a public meeting will be held where attendees can discuss the design plans for conversion of retired cranberry bogs to more naturalized streams and wetlands at Century Bog. The public is invited to attend and ask questions. That will take place at Onset Bay Center at 186 Onset Ave in Wareham. All partner logos are below the text.

🏀 It’s #MarshMadness — restoring salt marshes is the real slam dunk! All month, we're sharing past projects, kicking it off with Marsh Island Salt Marsh Restoration. This #DERPriorityProject restored 6 acres in New Bedford Harbor which improved water quality, habitat & recreation.

Why is a golf ball in a #DERPriorityProject? Because it used to be a golf course! DER is partnering with the City of Northampton and @massaudubon.org to restore Nashawannuck Brook and the historical wetlands by removing dams and undersized culverts, restoring the stream channel, & more.

New construction alert! Upper Coonamesset River Restoration is the newest #DERPriorityProject to break ground. This project will restore 20 acres of former cranberry bogs, remove culverts to improve stream health, increase fish passage & create public access for recreation.
