#Civil–#Military
Meanwhile I'm talking with French people about what an actual civil war will look like. Maybe like the Austrian civil war between the two world wars, where the countryside bombed the city? ICE is funded to be the third largest military in the world. How can anyone sign off on what is happening […]

Friendly reminder that the US military has only been used to defend this country's freedom 4 times throughout our existence. The American Revolution, the war of 1812, the American civil war, and WWII. THATS IT! Fight me.

I agree. But if a civil war breaks out, The People will win - based on numbers and the fact most US citizens already own guns. That's only if the military stays firm in their commitment not to kill their fellow countrywomen/men.

Kinda pulling on a thread tonight wondering what it would look like to have a bold Christian countercultural vision against the US civil religion around military "service".

Then again...if it does come down to the civil war that Trump seems to be trying to get, having so many highly competent former military people available can only be good news for those attempting to preserve the Constitutional order.

This is a beautiful perspective on service. Not just military service, but for all who show up for their community with the intent to contribute selflessly to make things better. (Of course, there are those who enter the civil service realm with nefarious intentions, but that's a different subject.)

No Western democracy has para-military and military forces on the street for a domestic issue as the USA does. The vast majority of civil discourse no longer is outraged over their presence. It’s outraged over => their conduct. Trump has in the space of months normalised military/para-military

“Trumpism is not withering—it is putting down firm roots in the military, in the media, in the justice system, in civil society, and in the legislative branch. A democracy that plays dead will soon be dead for real.” www.nybooks.com/articles/202...

Even if that were the case, frankly especially if that were the case, guess which government has been sheltering and supporting the ELN for years? Chavez-Maduro.

Y'all should look up the events of 1985 apropos the Palace of Justice in Bogota. Colombian civil-military relations is a strange world.
Isn't the Colombian military engaging the ELN in combat along the Venezuelan border? Strange to call it kidnapping.

‼️174 black US soldiers are buried or memorialized at Margraten.

‼️The second panel provided information on the "strict policy of segregation" in the U.S. military during World War II and the journey of many soldiers into postwar civil rights movements.

Which is the obvious strategy for anyone who isn't a dunce.

I doubt that any senior members of the gvt, military, or civil service are in Caracas as of now.
Venezuela is preparing a guerrilla-style defence if the US attacks, Reuters reports.

The plan involves scattering small units nationwide to sabotage invading forces and potentially creating street chaos in Caracas to make the country ungovernable.

Why is there mandatory retirement ages for military and not politicians?

Two conflicts I have no interest in.

To be fair, with the exception of the Pacific Theater in WWII, my military history interest ends around the Civil War.

The now common practice of limiting the meaning of “service” only to military service devalues the dedication and in many cases the sacrifices made by those in the civil service and other public service.
A nation’s strength isn’t measured by its words — it’s measured by how it treats those who served. Join me and Dr. Joe Robinson, Worcester’s Director of Veterans Services, in thanking Massachusetts veterans for their service and recommitting to meeting their service with action.

This is my great-great-great grandpa. He immigrated to the US in 1843 with his infant son after having served in the Prussian military. When the American Civil started, his eldest son was 17 so he lied about his age to join the 13th Inf. Co. G to fight instead. I put his story in the alt text
