#Chilterns'
The Chilterns are surreal and beautiful in autumn. The view immediately in front of us appeals to me far more than any blue coastal scene. Good walk, good weather excellent company. You can keep your Algarve. #woods #forest #autumn

leasant day wondering the Chilterns. My bike modelling Hilly 100 in the background in a moment when the people in my phone materialise in the real world. Great to meet @soxoncycler.bsky.social IRL tho’ I reckon they dodged a bullet avoiding me chatting their ear off for 60k when I got a puncture… 🤣

The Chilterns looked amazing in the autumnal sun today. Did a 75km ride up to Christmas common and back through Stoke Row, & Wallingford. Loads of riders out; chatted to someone who was doing the Henley Hilly 100. Nice day ferit. #Oxfordshire #Cycling

More loud fireworks going off in an otherwise very peaceful rural part of the #Chilterns AONB. Some people clearly don't give a shit about local wildlife and livestock.

Good morning! It’s Audax-O’clock so I’m on the way to Reading to do the “Henley Hilly Hundred”. 108kms and about 1,300m of climbing around the Chilterns AONB.

I suspect a lot of the gaps in actual ground -truthed or existing road ls are just joined as straight lines.
I need to check if some of the new road segments our volunteers on the Beacons of the Past project discovered thru our hi-res LiDAR ended up in here yet.
Like this corker!

wow. learned a new word: "Holloways are ancient roads or lanes that have sunk below the surrounding ground due to erosion over the centuries. You can find them all over the Chilterns: narrow, atmospheric roads with vertical banks of earth on either side, canopied by trees." v @hookland.bsky.social

Climbing the Bix Bottom valley towards Cookley Green, where old beech woodland, chalk slopes and autumn leaves produce their rich and colourful cathedral. #Chilterns #Autumn #Fall 🍁 @annadillon.bsky.social

We recently joined Freddie van Mierlo MP and Cllr Ben Higgins for a ride along our new Royal Chilterns Way route 🚴‍♂️🌳 Showing how great routes boost local economies & connect communities.

We’re pushing for safer, better-funded cycling for all.

The gold of the #Chilterns at Freedom Wood. I'm thrilled that first rate artist @annadillon.bsky.social will be transforming this scene into a painting. Stay tuned for updates!

My seasonal picture of the ruins of St James, deep in The #Chilterns. This visit was with my favourite artist @annadillon.bsky.social and this perspective originally featured in our first Wessex Airscapes exhibition. #ruins

Still think that fly agaric are the coolest of the mushrooms. Found this one in the same spot as some others seen a week ago, and loved the way it was decaying.

Last weekend I visited the Royal Standard of England pub in Beaconsfield in the Chilterns. Wasn't expecting it to be so much like a museum with knick-knacks hidden everywhere. It is of course haunted, including by a drummer boy, cavalier and WW2 airmen.
Also used as a location in Hot Fuzz!
