#CIS3750
Corey - a member of the first community-engaged CIS3750 cohort - became one of the folks in my lab that I relied on most. He gave his time and energy to support those in our community who needed it most - far beyond what most undergrad and grad students do.

I was told undergrads wouldn’t be able to finish the project. I was told it would be too hard and would most likely fail.

I was told wrong.

So thankful that CIS3750 is the class it is. Especially in these dark times when the news suggests that we care less and less about each other.

Thank you to the students of #CIS3750 for developing some thoughtful and innovative solutions to address the issues of food and housing insecurity within the UofG community.

I'll have more to write about the experience later.

Today the students of #CIS3750 present their final prototypes for projects that seek to improve food and housing security for students on campus.

Can’t wait to see their wireframes and hear what they’ve learned about using comp sci to make a difference in our community.

Follow along for updates.

Hey UofG staff, faculty, and grad students - I'm looking for a few more volunteers for the CIS3750 lab demo. If you are interested, please let me know. You do not need to have any computer science or software engineering training. In fact, it's almost better if you don't :)

Huge thanks to Brendan Johnson - Executive Director of the Guelph Neighbourhood Support Coalition - for sharing his knowledge on the state of food insecurity in our community, and supporting the learning journey of students in #CIS3750 at @uofguelph.bsky.social.

Huge thanks to the 26 volunteers who joined the #CIS3750 class last Thursday for the paper prototyping lab demo. It was chaotic and loud and so much fun - and wouldn’t have been possible without your support.

Next Tuesday, students in #CIS3750 will host a 2nd lab demo - this time sharing wireframe prototypes to support housing and food security on the #UofGuelph campus. I'm excited to see how their projects have changed since lab demo 1; and to learn how they might make a difference to students in need.

The #CIS3750 lab demo on Tuesday was a wee reunion. Kate & Corey volunteered to review student prototypes. Kate & Corey were critical to the success of the Farm To Fork project. Kate brought her expertise in community health & food insecurity, Corey brought his big comp sci nerd brain!

Today is the first lab demo for #CIS3750. We have 30+ volunteers joining class to review paper prototypes designed by 46 teams. Students were challenged by our community partner (Brendan Johnson of the Guelph Neighbourbood Support Coalition) to develop solutions to reduce food insecurity on campus.
