Best conference I attended in a while, captures the full breadth of biophysics. So many refreshing ideas to understand living systems 🦋🐦‍⬛🪰🦠🪸🐙
It was a pleasure to co-organize with @allysonsgro.bsky.social Junior Scientist Workshop on Theoretical Biophysics at @hhmijanelia.bsky.social. We had great lectures and tutorials on theoretical approaches used to understand biological phenomena. Can't wait for the 2026 iteration, stay tuned.

@egonw what a mad pursuit! I know, it will be a lot of work. So, I wish you the bit of luck, which is necessary, too!

Also, although you know that my background is in biophysics (so only remotely related to chemistry) and I do little in this line of work these days, count me in, if there is […]

Crick was a physicist who was emerging as an accomplished contributor to biophysics. In 1952, he co-authored a paper on the diffraction patterns expected from helical structures such as those from the alpha helical structure predicted by Pauling, Corey, and Branson in 1951.

From 1951, Rosalind Franklin, a researcher in the UK Medical Research Council's Biophysics Unit at King's College London, began collecting X-ray diffraction data on DNA fibres.

You may wonder why I am starting with Franklin. The answer is Watson did nothing notable before she came along.
