YES ive also noticed what happens in fandom is that persistent “criticism” of a character often becomes spectacle, a literal object to be judged, instead of a person to see yourself in and reflect on. it almost becomes sadistic dehumanization overtime rather than an acknowledgment of negative traits

When it came out that he was, in fact, a casually abusive sociopath, I wasn't looking to position myself as superior. I just wanted acknowledgment of how my discomfort had been dismissed for so long. Maybe not an apology, but recognition for them to maybe not be such dicks about it next time.
