those times when the world cracks open to something that can’t be contained i measure the shape of the dark with my bare feet— paths worn into wall-to-wall. i don’t know what i’m looking for in these small, daily abductions of feeling: a rapture, a light through the blinds. i keep trying to measure what can’t be held— your love rising, intangible, like smoke breaking the horizon, just there and just gone.

She loved a bard named Thistle Gwain, Who claimed he’d fought the Beast of Flame. He hadn’t, it only tripped on a rock, But he bragged about it round the clock. They courted beneath the moon’s soft leer, While the unicorns snorted with jealous sneers. They kissed by a pond that judged them both, And swore their love with dramatic oaths. But bards are fickle, and often flighty, And sappy vows are traded lightly. She gave her heart, he gave a shrug, Then ran away with a banshee named Bug. Glimmerwhisk cursed his socks with flair, And he woke as a frog with decent hair. But revenge did not mend her broken heart, That one cruel trick was just the start. So in that glade, if you feel bold, Beware the myths that fairies told.

939, Berlin With all that’s going on, first a war, then a depression, and now a bigger war. It’s like the rapture is her to fulfill a self-fulfilling prophesy from the silly humans in this age. Zhe’ra was furious. Life these days was a chore. Even her lavender scented candles couldn’t keep up her morale. The measure of the leaders of today was «bah!» Some days she just wanted to ascend, to start a new life, or even just portal to another time. But she didn’t remember how she’d done it 400 years ago. She beat a slab of meat into submission and shaped it to a burger, a nice spice mix and some vegetables and that would do for a meal today. She’d make her way out of Germany tomorrow. She’d had it.
