Big dumb progressive. Half assed musician. Proud husband and stepdude. Respecter of pronouns
Heart goes out to you. We just said goodbye to our little girl a month ago. Still smarts and the house is too quiet

We had to say goodbye to our beloved Yoshi, the sweetest most sensitive little girl. I called her Dr. Dog because she was such a great emotional support. We will miss her greatly

I’ve got a 20 pound Super Bingus at home. I couldn’t recommend a Bingus more

Geddy Lee my polydactyl rag doll before he became a smug 20 pounder

This dude is my buddy. Follows me from room to room and will accept gentle ear and chin scratches. He only cuddles me when I’m not looking and I’ve learned to accept his boundaries but it’s a struggle cuz he’s so far and cute

I’ve got a fatty that gives me the same look when we put him on a diet. We gotta stick with it though!

1945. The concept of an album, much less the concept album, hadn’t really been born. But ambitious genius Mary Lou Williams nonetheless delivered a beautiful, tightly themed masterpiece inspired by the stars. She continued blowing minds w her musicianship well into old age

Joni Mitchell. While she has a few equals, there is no greater American singer/songwriter. Exquisite musician, evocative vocalist, and perfect lyricist. “Look out the left the captain said, the lights down there that’s where we’ll land. I saw a falling star burn out above the Las Vegas sand.”

Minute Men, firehose all things Mike Watt are good. Energetic punk rock music with toes in prog, nuggets era garage, and Latin grooves. And he’s the bitchenest bass player that ever bassed

Courtney Barnett is the full package. The voice, the riffs, and most importantly the wordplay. Gimme all your money and I’ll make some origami honey.

A disciple of Charlie Patton, Mississippi’s Bukka White played old style country/delta blues. He could keep a room moving with his loud percussive playing style and a rich gravelly voice singing of lost love and imminent death. He was over in Aberdeen on his way to New Orleans.

Everybody knows this is a masterpiece and I agree. Blurry, noisy, chaotic and beautiful. A unique and towering achievement as resonant today as it was in 1991 when My Bloody Valentine gifted it to the world.

1985 and I as a middle school metal head am crammed into a 500 seat theater to see W.A.S.P.
The opener played Fight Fire With Fire, the first track on their new album. My head exploded and I had a new favorite band for a couple of years. Oh yeah and they helped invent thrash too

Love dirty old blues. Bo Carter was the king (“Let Me Put My Banana in Your Fruit Basket”) But Lucille Bogan had no use for innuendo. “I’ve got nipples on my titties as long as my thumb. The stuff between my legs will make a dead man cum” Listen to the end of “Start Me Up” to hear Mick tip his hat

1994 Lollapalooza: I’m out of my mind on hallucinogens and thought I needed to calm down. I was wrong because soon the stage was filled with feral musicians blowing what was left of my mind. Boredoms were supporting “Chocolate Synthesizer” and changing my musical life

Geese “3D Country” is easily my favorite album of 2023. These kids from New York crafted a stellar fusion of jazzy funk, energetic post hardcore (kinda like those other Brooklynites Barkmarket) and occasional bursts of screaming lunacy. Never boring always surprising. Can’t wait for their next one

Chan Marshal is always amazing but IMO she was never as immediately engaging from cover to cover as she was when she went to Memphis, hired legendary studio ringers, and put out this shimmering masterpiece

Memphis Minnie could shred and sing and write with the best of them. “Good Morning Blues”, “When the Levee Breaks” and of course “Hoodoo Lady.” Don’t put that thing on me cuz I’m going back to Tennessee

A musical genius whose weapon of choice was the alto saxophone, Charlie Parker grew up in the then fertile jazz grounds of Kansas City, watching lions of the time like Lester Young. His lightning quick mind and fingers helped him invent be bop and brought improvisation into music like no other

Wanna hear an amazing debut album from thrash pioneers Exodus? 1985’s “Bonded by Blood.” Some of the best riffs, frenetic drumming, and gloriously demented lyrics you’ll ever hear
